Art is all about practice and experimentation. You don't always need the high-end, uber expensive art supplies when you are practicing or experimenting. Sometimes bargain supplies are all you need. And for the price, you get a lot of supplies with this kit. If you or someone you know are looking to hone your drawing and sketching skills, this is a good set.     • Solid Value -- Ghetto Look
I feel petty dropping a whole point (mostly) for the covers of the sketchbooks. But these look the part of a value-brand purchase; which is odd since most of the tools in the zip back are excellent quality. Some other things I didn't love include the semi-transparent measuring tools (which look pretty solid in the pictures), the way the product photos double the visual of each item to make this look like you're getting a ton of items, and the fact that the sketch paper isn't quite as weighty as I prefer (it's not horrible or easily torn though). Ultimately, for the $17 list price, this beats most of the competition. So, as long as you don't mind the few drawbacks I mentioned, I'd still recommend this to you. ... show more

    • Good for a basic set, great for young artists
First off, I saw another reviewer saying their description does not match what is received. I want to clarify that I have checked their description, title and the writing below it describing what you receive, and I see no major differences in what I received and what they say you receive. Maybe they have changed it of late, but I received exactly what is described, with a couple of minor things different, which I will explain. I would not call it a "professional" set, although I do not see why professionals could not use the items. I am finding the pencils and pads higher quality than I have seen in other more thorough sets, so that would depend on what one considers professional. The rulers they call plastic; to me, they are more rubbery or silicone or something as they can be bent up. I can see where this would come in handy at times, and it will be safer for a child to use without sharp edges plus will not get broken as easily as a cheap plastic set would. The sketch pads they give you have good paper, a little on the thick side, so they will be great for the pencils and other dry mediums. You get all of the other items like the graphite sticks, charcoal, eraser, sharpeners, etc. The only thing I see that could possibly be missing is the glue they mention, but I think they just gave it a different name than something else in the set I am used to being called something else. The whole set fits inside a nice zippered case with slots for everything to fit in except the rulers, but those just fit on top of it all inside a flexible rubber or plastic type of bag with a snap to close it. It would be a great kit in my opinion for anyone new to sketching or for young artists. I get this type of set all the time when I see them on Vine to keep my supplies up and check out newer brands, and this is frankly one of the better sets. Usually, they come with colored pencils and watercolor pens, which is nice, but sometimes that makes the quality go down on the rest of it. The art supplies included in this are higher range than the ones you can go out to a box store to use but lower range than the more brand name art supplies so honestly they're really good to know if you like using these tool while sketching.

I really love this set! It has everything you’d need to get started drawing. I like the small size of the 2 sketch pads and the ruler kit. Would make a great gift for child, young adult.
