  • Storing Paint You've Mixed!
It has been years since I did a paint by number. Growing up I used to do them all the time. What memories! Kitchen table, the smell of our Christmas tree filling the house, snow out the window, 2 week break from school and my new paint by number Santa brought me. Now back to today! The picture is on the exact backing media as it was years ago. Sturdy and the picture was printed perfectly and easy to see. I started painting mine a few days ago. The paint is very good quality, smooth and thick enough. The colors are beautiful, very earth tone and rich. I thought I was going to miss the oil paint that I was used back in the day, but I don't at all. Clean up is much easier. So far I am happy with the brush that was included. I have not had an issue with it being too large for the areas I'm painting. I don't go out of the lines but feel if I do that makes the painting mine. I find the trick is paint only on the very tip of the brush and not much paint. I generally touch down in the area on the number, which also helps cover the number and gives me an area to 'dip' my brush into. Yes I do go back to the paint 'bucket' a lot just because I don't over load my brush. The brush cleans easily and has maintained the point. I clean my brush often even when painting the same color, this also keeps my lines clean. I made my paint stirrer out of a paper clip I bent straight. It means I don’t have toothpicks all over and wipes clean with a paper towel. Being able to mix our own color goes a long way into personalizing everyone's picture. Great idea! I did read in some of the reviews that keeping the mixed colors was a concern. Mixing enough to do the painting so the color is consistent and keeping it fresh and moist. So while I was waiting for my delivery I thought of what I could use. Pill Planners came to mind so I bought a couple. Lettered each one of the 'doors' and it is working perfectly, keeping my mixed paints from drying out. I have attached a picture to show what I've done. I saw the pill planners on sale in my local Dollar Store - two for $1, they are available here on Amazon but a little more pricey. Of course they can be washed and saved for the next picture and the letters changed on the top. So it doesn't have to be a one use purchase. ... show more

  • Very Nice!
I got this paint by number to help pass the time while I was unable to walk due to foot surgery. It was my first PBY so when I opened the box I had doubts that I would be able to finish it, but I am so glad I did. I really like how it turned out even though I made a few mistakes. There was plenty of paint and the paint board was sturdy and easy to work with. I am grateful I had such a nice project to work on during my recovery. ... show more

  • so realistic, looks like a photograph
This is detailed, takes time and patience., but so rewarding. I framed it and still love looking at it every day.

  • Nice but I’ve had better kits
Likes: -Paint is smooth and easy to use. It is flat and matte so no sheen or volume. No clumps. -It has lots of paint. The containers are larger than any other PBN that I’ve ever done. -Canvas board is sturdy and was easier than having to iron and mount a canvas. -Kit included only one paintbrush, but it was really good quality. Dislikes: -You have to mix your own colors. I prefer kits that have all the colors already. It doesn’t include extra paint pods to put the new colors in either. -It says that all blank spaces are #1-white. Then when you look at the chart, a lot of those empty spaces have a number and it isn’t white. So you have to paint every except the blank spaces. Then you have to look at the chart and label them with the correct number. I did enjoy doing it and like how it turned out. I bought extra paint pods for all the new colors to keep them from drying out. Overall 4/5 stars. Recommend for Intermediate level. Also recommend purchasing extra paint pods. ... show more

  • Amazing!
Love this! It looks amazing! It came with everything I needed. The paint was thick enough, I only did one coat of paint with every color and only used water to switch colors. However a few things, you have to mix the colors you are given for any of the spaces labeled with a letter (A-Q) which is a lot of mixing. I had no issue with running out of paint though. This picture is not yet completely finished, I have small inbetween parts to finish. I’ve never done one of these before and the end is hard because there are very small spaces left and you can’t really tell what letter it says so I have to reference the key it gave me. My colors look a little less orange and are more cool than the other pictures, but I like the cooler colors more. I got this far by spending 1-2 hours on it everyday for about 3 weeks. It was very relaxing Overall, if you can find the time to complete this, GET THIS! I loved it! ... show more

  • One of the best I've ever done-- and somehow still cheap too!
(Let me start out by saying, it very much looks like the picture, which I know can be an uncertainty with these things sometimes.) So impressed by this piece! Everything came in great condition, the hard canvas was great quality, and I could tell it would be an intricate piece. The kit came with 12 colors and a surprisingly decent quality paintbrush. Even the paint pots were of the best quality I've seen for a kit. Nice touch. The example page and instructions that came with it were fairly clear. It was the first kit I've done that required mixing some colors, but the chart explained it pretty well, and once I figured out how to do it, it was very simple. It included instructions on sections with dotted lines, where you're supposed to use a "dry brush" technique that I missed until I had painted, so hopefully you can do that better than I did LOL. The hardest part was finding the sections to paint white, since they weren't numbered (so you wouldn't have trouble covering up numbers.) There were still a couple of colors that required quite a few layers of paint to cover the numbers and lines completely, but it eventually got the job done with plenty of paint left over. I wasn't even very conservative when I was mixing paint, so there's more than enough! Overall very impressed. It was a fun project, and I will be looking for more from the same seller. ... show more
