Description

Digitech DROP Compact Polyphonic Drop Tune Pitch Shift Pedal with Momentary Latch Switching and True Bypass with Electronic Power Supply and Patch Pedal Cable Get quick and precise pitch shifting from the DigiTech Drop guitar effects pedal. Rather than dealing with flabby strings that rattle against your fretboard and clatter on your pickups or futzing with your tuners between songs, all you have to do if step down on your Drop pedal to get the tuned- down chunk you crave with the playing action you demand. Nine settings give you 1-7 semitones of polyphonic down tuning plus settings for one octave down with or without dry signal. One thing about the Drop pedal that the effects nuts here are really dig is the mini toggle switch, which lets you set the footswitch to momentary (Tap) or latch (Hold). That gives you a ton of great ways you can use the DigiTech Drop pedal to use in your rig.

  • No lag, works great for drop tuning and octave doubling
This pedal works perfectly for tuning down (e.g. E to Eb) with the push of a button. I have not noticed any lag or tone change when using this. I saw a professional touring musician use it, so I figured it was good enough for me! The octave doubling is interesting (adding a lower octave to the note you play), but only really sounds good played without distortion. So you get 1x octave multiply or drop tuning in one pedal. This pedal is not for open tunings, (e.g. drop D, open G), it drops the entire standard tuning by increments of a half step, full step, a third, etc. I play in standard tuning and have songs that are in Eb (like U2, Benatar) and it's perfect for switching to those without switching guitars. There is a "momentary" option for the button which will drop what you play down as well. Interesting for solos but it's an instant drop to the drop, not a dive pedal. ... show more

  • Great pedal, but maybe I got a dud?
I had a Digitech Drop back in 2015 and it was great! It started instantly, tracked great, didn't color my tone, etc... I ultimately sold it as part of a package deal, which was stupid. A few months later, I purchased another one and it's just not as good as the first one I had. My new one takes a bit to boot up (thought it was DOA for a bit, actually), makes noise switching the pedal on/off sometimes, and if I really get to playing hard, it simply becomes unusable. With my bass plugged straight into the pedal, the sound gets all warblly and chorusy, volume dips, etc.... just completely unusable. I don't know what's different about the one I purchased this past summer vs the one I had a few years ago, but I just can't have the new version on my pedal board. Unfortunately, I think it's been long enough that I can't send it back, but when you get this pedal, do take your due diligence and push it so you know if it's a good one or not. ... show more

  • Great for keeping your instrument action tight
The band I am currently playing with tunes down 2 half steps (D), and this can cause action problems with my Bass guitars. I have not been able to put a string gage together that I like for detuning that far. So I like the fact that this pedal can do it fairly well without changing the strings and the action of the bass. As with detuning in general, the sound loses its punch a little either way. I was hoping the pedal would not also lose the punchy tones I like in the same way detuning does. But the fact that the bass action is not changed is why I gave the pedal 4 stars. If the punchy highs and lows were not affected I would have given it a 5 star rating. Basically, detuning you are going to lose tone regardless if it is digitally stepped down or tuned down. ... show more

  • Won't Replace a 7 String
I was excited to finally be able to use one good standard tuned guitar and be able to play drop C, B or A without having to tune down but I was really disappointed when I engaged the pedal and heard it. It does change your pitch down as much as you could need with little or no latency but it really screws up your tone and makes it sound artificial. With the pedal on it adds a cringe-worthy hum or double noted "octave" sound to the pitch. It's more noticeable if you play a single string and it sounds worse the lower you turn the dial. I'm surprised at how many positive reviews this has because to me it sounds like an octave pedal and not a detuned guitar. It's pretty simple, you plug it in and turn the dial to drop your pitch so I don't think it's anything I'm doing wrong. I was hoping for better technology for $214, but this doesn't cut it. I guess I need a 7 string. ... show more

  • Don't need multiple guitars setup with different tunings anymore!
Brilliant. This works incredibly well! No noticeable delay in the signal. The tone of the dropped signal is very good, there are no strange artefacts that you would usually encounter with a drop effect. I would only have two very minor comments, 1) When you drop it more than 5 steps you can perhaps start to tell its a drop pedal, but honestly it doesn't sound bad and it's not a problem. 2) Practising at low volumes doesn't work so well, as you can then hear the dry signal from the strings directly. This is unavoidable anyway. Solution: Put on headphones or crank it up! I love this thing. Since I got this pedal my secondary guitar with heavy gauge strings and drop tuning has been collecting dust. Now I just use my ibanez with super light gauge strings (in standard tuning) and playing any kind of super low dropped metal is no problem at all! ... show more

  • Perfect Pedal for Anyone Who Retunes a Lot
I don’t normally write review, but this product is amazing. As someone who retunes a lot, I was considering getting a Tronical auto tuner, but I read those mess up your intonation, so I got this instead (it’s also cheaper). It is PERFECT! No perceptible lag AT ALL; When I play a note, it comes out of the amp immediately! My only two grips with it are (1) that it only supports down to seven semitones, but then skips straight to an octave down; Nothing in between 7 and 12 (I’m sure you could chain these together, but what would the quality be?), and (2) the only way to turn it off is to unplug it, but I guess this is normal for pedals. As someone who plays almost exclusively in my room, I’d like a way to turn it off without unplugging it (I’ll probably just get a power strip with a switch). Other than those two minor things, this this is worth ALMOST every penny. I understand guitar pedals are expensive (some go over $300), and this one is no exception, but for a beginner, it’s a bit out of the their price range. So 5 stars for quality, but 4 for value. ... show more

  • Save your strings and the strain on the guitar.
Best purchase I have made recently. It comes in very handy when I am streaming Rocksmith 2014 Remastered and changing between different songs and different tuning. saves me a lot of time and keeps my guitars properly flexed. I would recommend this item for anyone who intends or is playing Rocksmith. Save your strings and the strain on the guitar. ... show more
