The footprint on this tool box is small enough to fit wherever it needs while its depth provides plenty of room for storage and the tray on top provides nice organizational separation. I currently keep my regularly used hand tools in the try and a bunch of hardware, larger tools and some electric tools in the primary compartment. I can even fit my entire Dremel carrying case inside with everything else. Quality is good, it even has an oddly nice smell every time I open it that just feels right - equivalent to that 'new car' smell but for tool boxes. My old 'standard' tool box is now full of soldering supplies and this one is for the rest of my small collection of tools. Looked all around for a water tight/resistant box to use on my trailer. It has a piece of angle that runs through the middle of the tongue and I didn't want to cut that out for a box. So I compromised by using a smaller box. This box has a tray that's removable and the bottom is open. I stored all my straps in there and it will fit extra tools as well. It is NOT an o ring seal like I thought, but there is no mention of it either. So I may add one in the future to improve water resistance. These don't come with a rubber gasket to make them waterproof, but you can make and install your own easily. I used approximately 140cm(55") of 5mm(3/16ths) EPDM round foam rubber gasket. You can buy it here on Amazon

Could be an OK tool box, But I know that this isn't a real DeWalt product. It's a Contracted Build, probably made by different manufacturers . It's the exact same box as the CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK Lockable, 17-in. (CMST17825) Just all Black. It comes in a plain box, no protective packing, no Styrofoam Comer Guards. Fortunately mine made it to me OK. It can be a good tool box as long as it's not dropped on it's corners, as I see several reviews of the Craftsman Clone coming damaged or missing latches. The grade of plastic used here is no where near as strong and durable as the original Dewalt tool boxes. I know this because I have a vintage 20 inch Dewalt tool box from 30 years ago. Virtually indestructible. The biggest issue I have is the tiny little support tabs for the tray. It's easy to put the tray in off center and dump all your small parts into the bottom of the box. It would make a lot more sense if there was a sturdy shelf to place the top tray onto. Like a metal tool box. I'm giving it a generous 3 STARS ... show more

I have a lot of tools and for different purposes. Working on the house and projects requires a different set of tools than working on the car/farm machinery. I bought two of these boxes to separate the two sets and that has made it so easy when loading up the truck since you can name the boxes on the front tag. Easy to open, carry and pack tools into.
