Description

DeSantis announces its latest improvement in concealment leather, the 014 Die Hard Ankle Rig. It's built from top grain saddle leather and finished on the outside with a super tough PU coating. This combination of materials was originally designed for Federal Law Enforcement with longevity and performance as primary concerns. The smooth leather lining protects the gun's finish and offers a quick, silky draw. The Die Hard Ankle Rig features a tough top grain leather lined holster with a conventional thumb break that has been attached to a neoprene leg band. The leg band is both padded with foam and lined with sheepskin.

    • Excellent product, just not for me
Didn’t like it; sent it back. So why four stars? The ankle holster is clearly a quality product. The design of the wrap-around strap is very good and lies cleanly and smoothly and seemingly “blends in” with your leg. The holster itself is rock-solid, double layered leather and could last a lifetime. Some reviews mention the snug fit, not always positively, but I consider the fit to be “secure” and I appreciate that. So why did I not like it? The holster portion does not cant forward very much. Many users might prefer this because, I believe, it likely feels more natural when reaching to remove/draw one’s firearm. But I typically “tuck” my firearm back a tad, with the muzzle slightly behind the ankle bone, and the grip hiding just under my calf. To do so it needs that forward cant. The other negative [to me] is the thickness of the holster leather. Although very high quality, this is just a little extra thickness that detracts from the “stealthiness” of concealed carry. This is especially noticeable at the muzzle end since it seems to have just a wee bit of flare for incorporation of a protective channel for the front sight. Again, this could be a positive for many users. Bottom line, this is truly a high quality ankle holster that would be perfect for many. It’s just my personal preference that keeps this holster from being the right one for me. ... show more

    • Fits my XDS like a glove! Comfortable, secure, with a solid draw!
First off, way more comfortable than I expected. It is surprisingly hard to see it is on. If you weren't looking for it, you wouldn't see it. I got the double mag pouch for my other leg as well. With the XDS only having a 5 round standard magazine having the extra ammo is imperative. The holster itself is great quality! I have zero concerns of my weapon falling out while I am walking. I have been wearing it for about a week now and I absolutely love it. It is not meant to be a "quick draw" holster. But I'm sure with the proper amount of training you could become very fast at drawing from this holster. Speaking of the draw... I am pleasantly surprised that when I pull the gun out the holster does not come with it. It stays put! It does not ride up your leg as you pull it out. This makes for a solid draw with no hang ups. Bottom line. Good price for a comfortable back up gun holster. ... show more

I could not be happier with this ankle holster. It fits my pistol snugly, yet is not hard to remove. It is comfortable and I forget I am even wearing it! It does not wobble around and stays secure without being too tight. I wear it daily and even on my motorcycle and I have for several months with absolutely no complaints. I recommended it to a few friends who have purchased it for the same weapon (Springfield XDS) and they are all just as happy as I am.     • I want to love this holster so bad.
I want to love this holster so bad. This would be by far, the best ankle holster I have ever owned, its comfortable, secure, and with boots i cant even tell is there. There is one major flaw, which is more of the weapons fault than anything. With the Springfield Armory XD-s and its ambidextrous mag release, I almost always catch it with my boot, dropping the mag when I exit my vehicle... Now that could be user error from me being 6'4" in a Ford Taurus, but I always have to check and make sure the magazine is secure in the gun, or I will feel it trapped between the mag well and my pant leg. Maybe if the leather covered the release that could be prevented, maybe not. I still wear it regardless since it is better than any other option on the market. ... show more

    • This is not a leather holster!
Sent it back!! The picture shows a leather holster when I opened the package it was a universal nylon holster. I ordered this for a Springfield Xds 9mm thinking that it was made to fit it. the retention strap didn’t even come close to strapping around the gun. I am not knocking the product just need to change the picture on the description. ... show more

I would rather carry IWB at 4:30, but it is kind of hard to reholster when I am in a vehicle. This has been a good compromise. It is easy to remove my XDS when seated when I need to. I do wear the support strap.

    • Good holster for use with boots
Decent holster. Works good with Danner Acadia boots. I have difficulty keeping the holster in place with non boots. It could be due to the fact that the XD-s is on the heavier side for what one would normally conceal in this holster.

Low quality sheepskin lining. Poor thread stitching, I've owned this holster less than a week and it's already coming loose. I will have to repair it myself. If I hadn't mistaken and thrown the package away......I'd return it. My other carry holster is a Galco......get it....you will not be disappointed. ... show more
