They’re pretty expensive for giving as a gift in my world! My only complaint is in the box I bought with them! The box is beautiful and I don’t regret it at all. My complaint is with the magnets. They don’t stay in the pencil guard. 😢HOWEVER…I’ve used this set for 7 straight days and have yet to reach for the sharpener. These go and go and go! When water hits them the real color comes to life! Brilliant! My castle tree (thank you Johanna Basford Worlds of Wonder) came out beautifully even without water! If your on the fence with these…just GET them! You’ll be very happy! ... show more

    • Pure ink in a pencil form and just add water to blend ! A great learning experience from all others.
Bought on sale since I sent others do beautiful work with these. When I tried them 2 different ways the first way is wet the lead then color . Wow took so much ink from pencils. Not the way to go with these gold gems. The 2nd way is color like a outline where you want the color and then take your waterbrush to lay and blend the colors. I am completely new to this method. So I did not get the results that I thought I should get . Like real look from these I did not achieve. Because I'm in the learning process :( I may have to just keep you tubing to find better ways to use. I want bright, color full real looking art.a Great collection ! ... show more

Box arrived in bubble wrap…on the outside. When I opened the cardboard sleeve the wooden box was fine. The inside was a mess. The crossbars didn’t hold for shipping. I had to reorder and slip the pencils back in place. That was a bit disappointing but I have a great set. Just what I wanted.

Beautiful pencils that you can either color with or paint with. Look at you tube for inspiration! Endless possibilities! The box opens and closes magnetically and there is magnetic wood on the inside to hold the pencils in place. These are vibrant and beautiful- although a little pricey, very much worth it. I would recommend getting the blender pencil and aqua brush as well, so you can paint or use dry it's the blender pencil. Awesome!! Also a great complimentary set with Prismacolor pencils! I could color with these all day! ... show more

So this is an expensive set, and I have dreamt of the day that I could get this set or the larger one for about 17 or 18 years now (since junior high). This was something I tried to grow my business enough over the last couple year to prove to myself that I have earned this and I got my first 4 figure order, so I bought this. I earned it, after all the years, I have earned something I have been wanting for so long! ...So imagine my disappointment to find that one of the colors is missing and the wooden divider is chipped. What felt like a special victory moment for me and my growth and achievements as an artist was taken away by a lousy shipment and delivery with and art set that looks used or returned... I know it may seem silly to you, but this brought tears to me. I shouldn't be crying of disappointment after buying an art set I've dreamed of earning for almost 20 years... ... show more

This is a wonderful set, and the wooden box is so beautiful; it makes it a pleasure to use. The one thing I would change is the wooden bars that keep the pencils in place. They're a little finicky. I would rather just have them be on a hinge that opens and closes and is held in place with a magnet at the other end. Aside from that, this set is stellar, and Inktense pencils are so much fun to play with. I will never be without them in my arsenal of art supplies. I haven’t even had a chance to use the pencils yet. This review, for the moment at least, is about the box. After going back and forth for a month on whether or not it was worth it to order the set with the nice box, I finally went for. It arrived today, and even though it’s a Christmas gift and I’m not supposed to use them until then, I decided to check the contents to ensure nothing was damaged. I’m so happy I did. The kid of the box is bowed in the center, as if it warped or something. Which means there are huge gaps showing around the edges of the box. After closely examining the box, I realized that the whole box is warped or twisted, it doesn’t sit flat on my desk but rather it bobbles back and forth. Not exactly what I was expecting from a company with typically high standards of quality. I’m so crazy disappointed, and now I have to figure out a way to get a return label (I have no printer) and find a way and time to return this or if I can manage to fix it. I was just so looking forward to these pencils and their supposedly elegant box. ... show more
