    • Straightforward setup Excellent Warm sound
Setup was surprisingly easy. No manual included, but a quick link to a PDF. Connection to PC, Nintendo Switch, Cable Box done in minutes. Setup Menu worked great. Bluetooth pairing to phone easy. Setup as 5.1 (waiting on 2 more speakers for 7.1 connection). Small glitch in that the speakers didn't respond or even test tone right away. Went in and out of menu a few times, and then they worked (did this once with a 2-speaker quicker setup and then did the same glitch when adding the additional speakers to the profile with the full 5.1 setup). Works with ARC well (Samsung TV that came with silly external box) and reciever connection defaults to a passthrough when not on, which is nice. Video is great and compressed audio cleanup works well. Didn't do Mic leveling yet, but the manual speaker tuning worked well at leveling things out for 5.1. I was expected a lot harder set-up and was pleasantly surprised. It's a quality product. Some folks may not like the direct DB volume adjustment but I find it handy, especially when working a little later at night, I can dial in a very exacting low volume so as not to disturb the rest of the house. Good- works as described, very good sound. Poor- after initial setup I could not get the volume level to come up to the listening level I wanted, was too low. After alot of time changing settings, no luck. After alot of internet searching I found a description of exactly which settings I needed to change to give me a full range of volume control. Now I can adjust to my liking. Frustrated that the owners manual doesn't make volume setup an easy task. ... show more

    • Pretty nice unit but with some very minor flaws
I dislike that the remote keys do not light up, when in our movie room in dim light and new to this remote, I have to use a small flashlight to make changes to audio. I miss the stereo all channels select button my 20 year old amp had. All in all for the money it is a good machine.

I replaced an older AV system with this beauty. Since I do most of my handiwork the installation was fairly easy ... with a couple of caveats. The speaker setup (synch) was awesome using the supplied equipment. I had to lookup how to synch the HEOS app to the Denon app and manipulate them together. But the HEOS music is a sweet addition to the system. You can easily control the Denon and HEOS with your iPhone, iPad or whichever devices you might have. You'll need two Toslink Digital Optical Audio Cables to connect your TV to this system. Worth every penny you might spend for this!! ... show more

    • Exceeded expectations so far
So far this has exceeded my expectations greatly. It's much easier to use than my old Sony receiver that died, and has solid features. My only complaint would be the setup. I replaced old speakers at the same time and setup really isn't geared towards partial testing of a room or hooking everything up over a couple of days, pretty much all the speakers had to be set up before it allowed me to advance through setup properly, but after that it was great. ... show more

Surpassed all my expectations! Sounds great, Video is great, controls are great, the display is great. Setup super easy, the Audessey sound setup is fantastic! Makes the 5.1 low-end speaker system (circa 1990) sound balanced and also great! So surprised.     • terrible user interface (UI)
the tuner does most normal functions but come on Denon, it's 2024. you need to focus on a UI that doesnt require an Engineer to figure it out. example: I can't even change the Fade on this tuner that supports Dolby 7.2. and to set the Balance requires only using certain inputs and is buried WAY down in the menu... so not easily adjustable. check out the 1000s of apps and hire some of those UX designers. ... show more
