Dell Monitor Review Model S2722QC. 4K UHD with speakers I bought this monitor to take advantage of the full 4K available in my new M4 Mac Mini, replacing a 10+ year old 1080P monitor. The monitor looks great, and took only a few minutes to set up, following the guide in the box. Be sure to follow their steps to assemble the stand and then attach to the monitor as it remains in the box. Dell carefully planned the package and instructions to protect the screen. I tried connecting with both an HDMI cable and the supplied USB C cable. When using an HDMI cable, the monitor would blink off to black and then return, a very annoying trick. I do not know if this was a problem with this particular monitor, or the Mac mini. Rather than waste time trying to sort that out, I just moved to the USB C cable. Be sure to use the one they provide in the box; different USB C cables bought online have different levels of support for a monitor. One feature I wanted was the built in speakers. The sound quality is a bit disappointing, as they sound a little tinny. I should have expected that, given the small size of the speaker enclosures in the monitor frame, compared to any desktop computer speaker pair. For now, when I want better sound I use earphones, either bluetooth or wired, from the Mac itself. Minor annoyance - to adjust screen brightness or speaker volume, I had to use the control buttons one the monitor frame; the Mac on screen and keyboard controls had no effect. EASY FIX- thanks to a YouTuber reviewing the new M4 Mini with non-Apple peripherals, I learned of the free app MonitorControl, available on Github. It is a great solution, making the keyboard controls for both brightness and volume work perfectly. If I later add a speaker pair to the configuration, the speaker connection port on the monitor and the MonitorControl app should be a snap for full control. Final note on display resolution: to quickly change resolution open System Settings on the Mac, go to Displays, and you will see the full set of different resolutions available on the S2722QC. Depending on what apps I am working on, I use this control to switch between the default 1920x1080 (HD), 2560x 1440 (QHD), and 3840 x 2160 (4K UHD) very quickly. ... show more

I had an old 24" HD monitor on a swingarm as a second monitor that started degrading. Since I was using a 32" 4K monitor as my main monitor, I wanted something 4K so that the mouse transition between the two was smoother as they were more closely matched in resolution. Yet at the same time, it needed to be light enough to be used on the swingarm. This monitor is what I selected based on a sale price around $190. It is right on the edge of what my swing arm can handle in terms of weight, but it works. The image quality is good and I am satisfied with it. My only complaint is the sound quality is not great, and the volume doesn't get as loud as I would like. It's on a swing arm so I can rotate it in front of my bike on a trainer and run Zwift or other training apps. The bike, trainer and fan combine to make quite a racket and I can't turn the game sound up enough to hear it clearly through that din. Dell has become my go to for monitors. The build quality is always high, the picture is clear and it works well. I have this monitor setup with an Anker USB-C dock hooked up to an M1 MacBook Air. No, it cannot do multiple external monitors, but a single large monitor is what my wife had with her old iMac 27" and this monitor does not disappoint. No, it's not the highest in any spec, but it's a solid choice for standard productivity tasks like documents and some media work like photos and videos. First off, I really do like this monitor, now that I have gotten it tweaked in for my use. It is actually a simple, straight forward machine, if only they had included even rudimentary instructions in the box, which is the reason for giving it only 4 stars, when it deserves 5 stars...The pictorial instructions got me hooked right up, but I almost returned it, because I could not figure out how to turn it on!!! After about 35 minutes of frustration, including online research, I ran my fingers all along the bottom and top of the machine, and felt a little bump at the bottom right, and luckily turned it on. There is no icon to tell you this switch exists, and the instructions show a picture of the power button where the headphone jack is!! ... I am using this monitor for my digital audio recording workstation, with a Mac M4 Pro computer. The screen was too bright for my tastes, but my Mac had some screen adjustments which allowed me to warm the screen up, but then everything looked kind of yellow, which was not satisfying either. Again, I searched the bottom of the machine, thinking that there HAD to be some kind of adjustment to lower the brightness, and I felt 3 little bumps, near the elusive power switch, but I thought they were just part of the trim, and that no one would make a machine with such inconvenient controls.. but no, they were adjustment buttons!! I only found these after a few days of frustration, all of which was needless, if instructions had been included... Anyway, at this point, I am totally happy with this monitor- very crisp, sharp, pleasant picture, now that I have lowered the brightness.. I love the fact that almost the entire screen is the picture, with a border that is about 3/8" at the top and sides, and about 3/4" at the bottom. I got this on sale for $213.00, and for that price it was a bargain, but the current $279.00 price is still probably worth it, I think. It serves my needs perfectly. ... show more

I have two of these and I use them in dual monitor setup. I use them interchangeably between Dell (Windows) and MacBook Pro M1 Max. These are great productivity monitors, you can get large amounts of content across multiple applications for multitasking. I don't use them for gaming or graphic design etc. So can't tell from that angle. But for home, home office and work from home setup, this is probably the best value option available. ... show more
