  • Beautiful and Well Organized Cookbook
I'm very impressed with this cookbook. It has gorgeous photos, which is very helpful when trying to make a dish you're unfamiliar with. I have been trying to cook more Mediterranean food and this cookbook is perfect. It gives all the basics and provides lots of recipes. The recipes are easy to follow and it gives exact measurements. The cookbook is separated into Snacks & Sides, Soups & Salads, Sandwiches & Bowls, Easy Dinners, and Sweet Treats. Each recipe has the directions on one page and a full facing page with a photo. The recipe gives some very useful information including how many people it serves, how long it takes to make, and the nutritional information per serving including calories as well as fiber, cholesterol, sodium, carbs, protein, and sugar. That is really awesome and is not usually included in most cookbooks. If you're watching certain aspects of your diet, this cookbook has you covered. The cookbook has a spiral binding - the spiral is strong and durable. Even a beginning cook will be able to use and follow the recipes in this book and have a great amount of success. The recipes seem to be updated, modern and geared towards the type of foods that people enjoy eating today. The only drawback (it's otherwise a perfect book in my opinion) is that the book does not have an index. You can't look up an ingredient or name of a recipe to find it in the cookbook. That must be the way newer cookbooks are doing it because I just got a different one not too long ago and it didn't have an index either. It's not a deal breaker for me by any means. If you enjoy Mediterranean food or just want to incorporate more Mediterranean dishes into your diet then this compilation from Delish is a great book to have on hand. From the online pics I thought the book would be soft covered, but it isn't. It has a nice hard cover but with a sturdy spiral binding. Perfect to open all the way & lay flat or insert into a vertical cookbook holder, which I happen to have. The over 75 recipes in this book are wonderfully varied, from starters, snacks, sides, soups, salads, entrees & sweets. Every recipe includes serving size, prep time, nutrition info per serving and a gorgeous photograph of the completed dish, I always find that helpful along with a short introduction from the recipe author. I appreciate that the majority of the ingredients are ones you probably already have in your pantry or are readily available. In the rare case there's a slightly exotic ingredient, they always offer an alternative. What attracted me to this book is that it uses so many of my favorite foods, artichokes, lemons, rice, cannellini beans, feta, arugula, kalamata olives, chickpeas, salmon, etc in new and delicious ways. It's a well written book, the recipes are easy to follow & many can be made in one pot. I have my eye on the Creamy Chicken Spanakopita Bake & everything's in my pantry except for the frozen phyllo sheets which I'll pick up at the store later.   • I'm going ot get sooo fat.
The pictures of food in this book will make you salivate like Povlov's dogs. The book is full of great recipes. I muttered "yum" as I flip through the thing. A lot of the dishes are really easy to prepare, which is nice. There are some more involved dishes that take some time to prepare. No matter if you're making a quick dish for yourself or a meal for friends and family, this book shines like a lighthouse keeping you off the rocky shore. I made the mistake of telling my wife if she brought home the ingredients, I'd make the meal. I do most of the cooking anyway, but we were out of a few key ingredients. She flipped through the book trying to find what she wanted for dinner, and she muttered "yum" after turning each page... I think I need to go buy some stock in feta, dill, and olive oil. ... show more
