I bought the "awareness" model because I do not want to lose one ear in a tactical situation. The molding process was simple and easy. However, that process of pressing it into your ear caused the "awareness" sound passage ports to be clamped (pushed in) and thus occluded. Now it blocked enough sound that I could hear myself chewing, but not the person next to me. So, I removed the "awareness" round part. Placed cut round toothpicks into it, one for each chamber, cut to the length of the piece. Reinserted it, and reboiled/recast the earpiece. That did open them back up. After remolding, there were edges on the black plastic that hurt. A gentle scrub with a fresh dry green pad removed the edges and smoothed the material. After the learning curve, and using the above work-arounds, it is better at passing the surrounding noise and sounds. I am happy with it. ... show more

It works well but the plastic is pretty hard when it's molded. If it had a little flex in it it would be much better. I wear them all shift and it's snug and works great but after 8 hours my ears are a little soar. Overall great product though

I have been using this product for the past 8 Sunday’s. It’s mostly comfortable, the moldable part is a hard plastic. So it molds to your ear but after you mold it, there is no flexibility to it. Over an extended period of time it will become uncomfortable. Multiple inside the ear options as well as the situation awareness plug. I use it with the SA plug and the smallest in ear piece. The mold is simple and quick to get ready to mold to your ear. I’ve had these for several weeks now and while you do have a good clear sound they tend to get uncomfortable about 5 hrs into a 13 hr shift. Still good item for law enforcement, security, or other functions where you need to always here your radio traffic ... show more

I was interested in trying this earpiece because its the only one that offered a 'custom' mold which I was hoping would (a) keep the piece in my ear better and (b) improve sound quality. It was very effective in keeping the piece in my ear, but my ear felt occluded and it definitely impacted my ability to hear surrounding noise. I found I would always turn my head to orient my free ear when talking to people. My biggest issue though was related to comfort. This isn't a cheap earpiece and as others have mentioned the tough thermoplastic material is hard! My ear started feeling sore after a couple hours. I probably could have 'gutted through it' but found other options that were more comfortable. I REALLY wanted to love it, and I don't hate it - in fact I keep in my pocket as a back up, but it isn't my preferred piece. Also, I found it a challenge to mold in my ear. I got it after a few tries but its certainly isn't a thing of beauty! My thumbprint is indelibly marked into the outer aspect where I kept it pushed in while cooling and it looks misshapen, although that's just an aesthetic issue, which doesn't impact sound quality or usability. I didn't find that it increased the sound quality over any of the other ear pieces I had, although that's probably more a function of the headset used. But still, I was hoping that by putting the tube right in my ear it might have increased the perceived volume a bit. Alas, that was not the case. All in all, not a bad choice, but not for me. Easy to mold and fairly comfy to wear. I work large and LOUD concerts a lot and was able to wear this earpiece this past weekend where I was literally 40 feet from some massive speakers. These worked great. The situational awareness piece worked perfectly as I could hear my radio and the person next to me. Will buy again ... show more

Was an easy process to mold the ear pieces as long as you follow their instructions. Great quality, worth the price and shipped quickly! Much better than the foam inserts I was using originally. I could easily hear the radio transmissions and still be aware of what was going on around me. Thanks!
