Founded in 1990 by Mandy Cabot and Peter Kjellerup, Dansko’s mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives through our products, our passion, and our commitment to a better tomorrow. Former horse trainers, Mandy and Peter were traveling in Europe when they found the perfect “barn shoe” – the traditional clog. They returned with suitcases filled with clogs for family and friends, and soon started selling them from the back of their station wagon. Word of the clogs’ comfort traveled quickly, and Dansko (meaning “Danish shoe”) was born.

My other Dansko shoes, while they did not fall apart after 20+ years (of standing, canning, cooking, cleaning, painting, gardening, kitchen tasks, about town), were getting thread bare, scrunched, severely stained and stretched with the heel slightly worn out. They are/were the second oldest shoes I own, but without a doubt the most worn over two decades (yes, that!). I treated myself to some new ones that might have more support, new heels etc. My old ones were discounted at REI and were a size 38, which at the time was a wee big. No matter. I wore them bare and even better, socks in winter. I loved them even though they were a dour grey with some cute stitching to liven them up. These are a 37, fit perfectly almost identical to my old ones and are BEA-U-TI-FUL. I slipped them on immediately after UPS delivered and oh my gosh: heaven! They are so pretty. I realize clogs don't have a lot of s*x appeal, but these are as pretty as they can be. I don't think they are leather (which my other ones were and which I greatly prefer for breathability and conforming to one's foot, but these will stand up pretty well for several years I believe. They’re beautiful. The red overlay isn’t as obvious as in the picture, which actually makes them even prettier. Typical Dansko XP 2.0: light, comfortable, great arch support, sturdy and very attractive.

These were the most comfortable shoes and they look great with jeans on. I have a great toe with arthritis so I have to be very careful what I wear on my feet. I've tried a lot of nursing shoes over the last few years, and nothing beats Danske. There are many look-alikes that are much cheaper, and trust me I know how painful it is to spend over a hundred bucks on shoes that you'll not be inclined to wear on social occasions or dates! Dansko shoes are a bit clunky looking, but they have great arch support, roomy toe box, durable soles, and water resistant uppers. There are hundreds of cute designs to choose from and the size charts are accurate. I love the 2.0 with its little bit of foot cushioning. Traditionally these shoes have no cushion to them and can be much heavier than other brands. If you like a soft cushy ride, like a sneaker or tennis shoe, I don't recommend this style for you. If you like a very firm sole without lots of cush, these are for you. Dansko has done a great job in making these 2.0 models a little lighter and a little bit cushioned, as compared to previous models. I took off one star because the design is some kind of wrap, not printed directly on the leather, and creases at the bend/break of the foot lifted it slightly from the first day. The XP dansko clogs are longer and narrower in width. Would not recommend for a person who needs a wider width or toe box. Does not fit like professional clog

    • Gorgeous Dansko clogs even BETTER in person!

I knew what to expect when ordering these brand-new steal of a deal Dansko clogs, but they were even BETTER in person! The tooled, deep navy blue design with a patent-leather finish is absolutely gorgeous! I love wearing the XP 2.0 version because my feet NEVER hurt in them, even when walking all day, and the extra height in the heel / base is perfect for a 5'5" shorty like myself. I wear an 8.5 in footwear that requires socks, so the size 39 is perfect and never fails. Dansko is super consistent with their manufacturing and sizing, so this is one of the few footwear brands I can count on and purchase with confidence online. ... show more

    • Not as good as I thought

I bought these from recommendations from other people in my profession. They are touted as good for those who stand on their feet every day, but that was not my experience. The heel on these is uncomfortably high with low sides around the heel. This creates a wobbly ankle and I nearly twisted mine multiple times. The arch is nice and high, which is great, but not really in the correct place. The higher than necessary heel put pressure on the balls of my toes, so much so that they immediately started to hurt the next day when I put them back on. These shoes are also quite heavy. Great if you want to work out while you work. They were comfortable under my heel all day, were true to size and had a nice roomy toe box, which are things I've had trouble finding in other clogs type shoes. The top is shiny and easy to wipe clean and the design was even prettier than pictured. I'm sure others love them, and honestly if the heel weren't so high I could probably over look any other issue.
