I bought these pants for hiking the Camino de Santiago. They were perfect: comfortable, lightweight, and quick-drying. When I washed them out in the afternoon, they would be dry for the next morning! Being able to convert them from long pants to shorts was also very convenient; you can even do it while wearing them, although I had to take my shoes off in order to do so. There are also buttons and straps on the legs so that you can make them capri-length, but I didn't use that much. All the pockets are handy, too; the bigger pockets are large enough to hold a phone. Great pants! Took two pairs on a 5-day backpacking trip, late April in the NC mountains. They were not hot and helped keep me cool actually. They did allow some breeze through, I wore leggings underneath during the mornings. didn’t smell weird and washed well! I ordered a medium and they fit in the waist but we’re sorta baggy in the legs. So I got a small and it was a tad tight on my waist but not enough to bug me a lot. The zippers were right under my hip strap for my backpack and caused some pain but I just left them unzipped. I love the shorts to pants conversion and the fact that the shorts aren’t too short or too long! For reference. I’m 5’6” and am 130ish lbs. I wear a size 0/2 ish in jeans and pants. A size 0/2 in target jeans. Comfy and lightweight. Nice zipper and clasp. I like how they can sinch at the bottom too. This was the 1st time I purchased apparel on Amazon, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. These pants exceeded my expectations. I bought a pair in black and was impressed enough to purchase another pair in army green. These pants are breathable, have the perfect amount of stretch in the fabric and in the right places, making them flattering for this type/style of pant. There are plenty of storage pockets and the conversion to shorts did prove useful. I wore them hiking in Yellowstone (early October) and they worked out great. They are lightweight, but blocked the wind and the zippers are well made. They packed easily and washed well (in cold & hang dry). Together we now own 5 pairs—2 different sizes (M and L), 4 different colors (grey, dark grey, black, army green). They’ve held up great so far for a rigorous backpacking trip, a kayaking trip, as well as a canoeing trip. They have plenty of pocket space, and the fit is flattering. The zip-off legs work well, but we haven’t really used that feature much, because neither of us wears shorts much. I do like that you can also cinch up the leg bottoms to make them more like capris, but I will say that in the medium, the ankle cord is too tight for me to do this, as it won’t go up my large-ish calves. Otherwise, the mediums fit me great. I’m 5’6” and weigh 137, and I can wear the mediums fairly comfortably, or the large if I want more space. I always have pants too loose in the waist and too tight in the butt. These are exactly the same. Size guide suggested a Large, I ordered XL. They still fight tight on my butt and loose on the waist. I have bought other pants for outdoor wear from well known companies but they didn’t have the fit or comfort that these pants do. Often this style is not necessarily flattering, but these pants are. They have enough flex that then don’t pull down at the back when bending, and they don’t bind around the waist. They are also light and breathable. I didn’t get hot and sweaty with activity.
