  • Very fun family project
Style: Magic Pharmacist
We had such a great time putting this together. The parts were very well made and easy to assemble. I have been making miniatures my whole life and this was impressive. I mean, the parts are printed, not handmade, but the quality is nice and it looks really cool on the bookshelf with the lights on. I added a few small handmade items of my own just to give it a special touch. But it really didn't need them. Very cute fun project. ... show more

  • Makes for a great gift and fun project
Style: Butterfly of Unknown Lands
I got this for a gift for my mother who loves butterflies and books. And I love putting things together. So this was perfect. It comes in a nice box and they give you everything that you should need except for the glue. Of which I would recommend Loctite super glue liquid. Setup is quick and clean. Oh, and you will need 2 AAA batteries for the LED light as well. HEADS UP: Be sure to take great care when removing some pieces that have thin parts. Example being the flowers and plants. This being made of balsa wood it is easy to break. The wood was a alittle warped here and there but that ended up not being an issue. And all the peices are printed/ labeled and lasercut. Just "pop" out the piece needed and glue/ fit in place. And in some cases peices have an outline showing you were to place things. The "customizing" is near the end when placing the butterflies and books/papers. Of which, the books and papers. They are printed out on sheets of nice paper stock. You will have to cut out the pages and fold them into an accordion to make the "book pages". Then cut out the bookcovers and apply onto those pages and onto blocks of wood to illustrate closed books. And the effect works pretty well. The directions are pretty clear and printed in color using photos. It is a little puzzlelike but I was able to figure things out just fine. Overall: I really enjoyed working on this project and the end results are nice. Would make for a great gift as well. ... show more

  • Great kit
Style: Magic Pharmacist
I've done other miniature kits in the past, and this was my favorite I've ever tried by far. It turned out exactly like the pictures. Instructions are included in English with very clear illustrations. The kit requires glue and batteries which are not included. I used Elmer's craft bond glue which worked fine for everything that needed to be glued. The majority of the pieces just slot together like a 3D puzzle. Most of the more fragile pieces had duplicates in case they break, which was handy. It took me a couple of weeks to finish working on it for a few hours at a time, probably around 15 hours total. Overall very cute, and I would buy another kit from this company. My one complaint is the cauldron pieces keep popping apart and one snapped in half and there weren't any duplicates for that piece. I'll probably have to replace the cauldron with something else. ... show more

  • Very well made product
Style: Rose Detective Agency
It was challenging enough to be interesting, but not so much as to be frustrating. I glued about 10-15%. Most of it securely snaps into place. The laser cuts in the wood sheets were very precise so that I only broke one piece when removing it from the sheet. Everything was very well marked to indicate where it needed to be placed. I enjoyed the build and the end result is so cute to look at. I've already ordered my second one from this brand. It was very well done. Oh...and I was surprised that several of the items in the build were moveable. The clock pendulum can swing, the globe turns, the lamps dangle, the cabinet drawer opens, the front door opens and closes and of course the secret escape door opens and closes. Those were nice surprises! ... show more

  • The best book nook I’ve done!
Style: Rose Detective Agency
I’m crazy about book nooks and have done a number of them. This one is by far the best one! Not complicated but takes time and building. It’s good quality, has so much detail, and comes with a ton of extra pieces which I love! Also, great directions in English! My favorite one yet!

  • So adorable & very satisfying
Style: Butterfly of Unknown Lands
I love this project kit & it's outcome so much. I'd definitely order another one from this company. It was fun, relatively easy/ very doable. It turned out great. I only gave 4 stars because some of the directions were a little vague & I had to figure it out or make it up & sometimes it turned out fine & others, after I decided to do it one way, once it was glued into place, I realized I should have done it differently. Like how some edges seem like they can either align with this spot or that spot & you don't know until 3 steps later that it would have been better to align with the spot you didn't choose. But all in all, it turned out great & I really enjoyed doing it. I highly recommend the Gel style of super glue. ... show more

  • 5/5 difficulty but high quality project
Style: Rose Detective Agency
I usually determine how difficult a booknook is depending on how many lights and wires there are. There are 5 which is very difficult. Getting thin tipped tweezers will definitely make this project easier in some parts. It is a very high quality product and the finished product is absolutely amazing. The instructions are in color which helps find the needed pieces. Some pieces are very fragile and easily broken so I greatly appreciate that they give you backup pieces. Getting a small hammer would probably be a great tool for this problem. This is my fourth booknook and one of my most difficult. There are moving parts and some pieces don't fit perfectly and needed to be glued in place. The instructions for the lights felt kind of out of order (in my opinion) and I had to disassemble the whole thing and reassemble to get the wires in the right place. I did need an extra set of hands to hold parts up so I could get the lights in place. This project uses stickers so there isn't any cutting necessary which saves on a lot of time. Overall, I did enjoy assembling it. It took me about 10 and 1/2 hours in total. SPOILER: the door and the back bookshelf move which made it a little difficult but overall added to the project's charm ... show more
