The urn is pretty and seems well made. However, it smells like it has been at the bottom of a pile of wet cardboard boxes. The package it came in, the velvet box and the urn all smell that way. The fastener on the velvet box looks tarnished . It looks like a cheap trinket. I have been airing everything out but the unpleasant smell lingers. I poured a small bit of baking soda in the urn, in hopes that would take away the smell in the urn. Of course it didn't. Obviously, I have not placed any ashes in the urn. Hopefully, the smell will go away. ... show more

When I received the package which took longer than expected, as I have prime- but the issue came when I opened the box and the god-awful smell like something that’s been sitting up in the attic for years or decades had penetrated the velvet box- I used everything I could to save the velvet box but - that old musty smell is too overwhelming. So I had to throw the velvet box case that it sat in. The keepsake urn itself has a tiny bit of that smell, but once I got it away from that velvet box, and the old box that it came in that looks like it’s been sitting on the shelf for decades- the Urn is very nice- great quality. I’m disappointed because the urn box that it came in the velvet black box was not salvageable- the stench was so bad-and those who packaged the outer box of the velvet box new had to of known the stench because it smelled up my whole kitchen and you sent that to my house after paying $43 for it? I don’t know if I got a bad batch, but just be aware they must have old ones stored and obviously selling them which I think is a disgrace because when I move, I can’t put it back into the velvet holder - because I had to throw it out. The craftsmanship of the box was compromised by years of sitting. So when I move, I’ll have to transport it in something else and sadly not the musty velvet box it came in. I think it was water damaged. But they threw the urns in anyway and shipped them out is my guess. ... show more
