  • A great resource
This book offers creative alterations for simple ceramic shapes. The ideas in the book have increased my creativity and enjoyment of working with clay objects.

  • Good introduction
As the title promises, the book covers both wheel and handbuilding. There are templates, but they need to be enlarged and are from the artist's own work. I have been handbuilding a long time, but my husband the mathematician had always calculated the curvature of the base for me, and I was hoping to learn how to do it so that I could make some new templates of my own design. I am at a point in my career where I have my own style and customers, and I am not interested in replicating someone else's style. If you are earlier in your journey, though, you may find the ones in the book useful. ... show more

  • Wonderful book!!! Definitely get it!
I love Deb's new book! Have taken her classes in person as well as online and she's an amazing teacher and artist. She's incredibly generous with sharing and it shows in this book! The amount of information in this book is awe inspiring! It's like being in one of her classes! Incredible amounts of information and clear and concise steps. Gorgeous images for reference and for inspiration as well. No shortage of ideas here! And there are templates in the back to use as well. Will try to see if I can resize them to larger proportion using my copier but to have them available is just wonderfully handy!!! You won't regret purchasing this book! ... show more

  • Complete Ceramics Course from Deb
One of the best project-based art books I have ever used. I really enjoyed Deb's personal story and her approach to ceramics. The book is a step-by-step look into her complex and biomorphic designs. She even supplies templates that folks can use to replicate the demonstrated products. She is generous with credit and showcases some very nice work by friends and colleagues. Each chapter starts with goals for personal and professional growth. Each project starts with how much clay to use and the dimensions of the thrown or hand-built pieces. Each project has lots of pictures that show every stage of the development. I have enjoyed working on the projects and have started to use her techniques in my own work. Let the Summer of Deb begin! ... show more

  • A must for every potter’s library!
I cannot express how amazing this book is. Deb’s creativity is endlessly inspiring. Any time I feel like I’m in a rut with my own work, I pick up this book and I always find new ideas and projects jumping to mind! This book has been so helpful in keeping me inspired during the pandemic times when all I want is to go back and take more in-person pottery classes. The images are absolutely stunning, and the instructions are clear, and easy to follow. I would 100% recommend this book to anyone who likes to work with clay! ... show more

  • This book should be on every potters and pottery teachers bookshelf!
One of my most favorite things about Deb's book is how she manages to include information that is helpful for a very beginner as well as someone who is very experienced in a way that is precise, detailed and encouraging. It is like she is in the room with you, explaining very patiently how to proceed. The photographs and explanations are very clear and she is so generous with her techniques and her patterns (included). I like seeing the inclusion of many artists work as examples. The whole experience of her book is positive; encouraging a person to explore their own ideas and directions with clay while learning loads of skills through the projects she presents. ... show more

  • Great ideas, well laid out, all skill levels. Won’t disappoint.
Well written, well laid out, lots of great ideas, projects and tips! Deb very generously shares the skills she has accrued over the years. She’s also a good teacher. It’s a great book for both beginners and experienced potters. I am of medium experience and so far only I do work for my own pleasure. I am experiencing a lot of pleasure reading and utilizing this book. I’m really inspired by it, getting a lot of work done and increasing my skills. ... show more

After buying this book, I signed up for some of Deb's classes online. The information is wonderful and I loved the projects in this book. I highly recommend it. I've been in clay for 25 years and am impressed with this artist. This has given me the boost I needed. I am posting the photo of the scoops and spoons I made from her book.
