We have a breakfast table in our kitchen that my kids use for their hobbies. My son has been using it to build model airplanes, and in the process he pretty much destroyed the top of the table. We were about to throw the table and get a new one when I had the idea of adding a layer of cork at the top for them to work on. I've found this set on Amazon and liked it for two reasons: 1. They are pretty thick, so you can use long thumbtacks to keep things in place without breaking things. 2. They come with adhesive in the back, so sticking them to the top of the table was super easy. I've covered the table completely with them. Obviously I had to do some cutting to fit them, but it was super easy to cut the extra parts with a sharp knife and the sand the borders to make them look OK.     • We replaced 1/4 corkboard - what an improvement

First - this is thick enough that push-pins actually push. Love it. We read lots of comments about adhesion issues. We haven't had any. Before installation we cleaned the wall, and used a hair dryer to warm both the wall and the corkboard. They've been up for a month without a single one falling down. ... show more

    • Great for Decor projects, but don't always stick

We bought these to create a padded wall space around our new dart board. (we miss frequently). These tiles look great, but the adhesive backing does not consistently adhere to the wall. We had a few fall off, so we simply used a thin nail to tack them into the wall.

    • Poor Quality Adhesive

Install was easy enough. Tools used were cleaning supplies, painter's tape, a level, ladder, roller and blow dryer and set up took a few hours over all. Unfortunately, even after following the instructions exactly (wash, wipe & dry down wall, apply heat to adhesive backing), three of the tiles had fallen off within the same evening they were installed. Over the next week, I had to continuously spend additional time and effort trying to keep the tiles fully adhered to the wall. Even though I continued applying additional pressure, I would notice that corners or even entire sides of the tiles would still begin lifting off every few hours. I ended up using several strips of painter's tape to apply additional pressure to the tiles. It seems to have helped, but there has still been some noticeable lifting, and I won't know for sure if the adhesive will hold until I remove the tape and begin pinning things on. I'm leaving for a trip next weekend. I'm considering removing the tape before then, and seeing how well the adhesive sticks while I'm gone. Or I might just keep the tape up to continue applying pressure while I'm gone. Either way, the real test will be once I start pinning on small canvasses, some of which are heavy enough that the weak adhesive might not hold. Overall, this has been a large disappointment. Far more time and effort wasted than expected, and over $100 down the drain since I bought two sets of these for my project. I was really hoping that this would save me time and money later by protecting my wall from excessive holes where I want to easily put up and take down in progress work (small canvasses, sketches/illustrations, photos & image print outs) ... show more
