  • The very best
Color: Set a
These are truly the very best markers that I have ever used. I tend to do a lot of manga art and these work amazingly well for that purpose, as well as for landscapes and basic colouring. I am impressed with how easily they blend together and how fine of an area you can work with using the super brush tips. I don't have that much experience using the other tip, as I tend to use the brush tip for most projects. None of the markers are dried out in the least and the ink goes down smooth and is quite vivid on the page. This set includes a colourless blender, also dual ended, and has a nice variety of colours, particularly the greens, blues and greys. There are also a good selection of flesh tones in this set. I love that you can replace the nibs on these pens and refill them so many times by buying the corresponding in refill, (between six and eight dollars usually.) These are so versatile and easy to use. The caps have little bumps to stop them from rolling off of your desk when you are using them and the barrel feels nice and solid in your hand when you are working with them. The packaging is great and they all arrived undamaged and nicely wrapped in shrink wrap. I can certainly see why they are a bit costly, but in my opinion, you get what you pay for and these were worth the expense. They also arrived quicker than what the shipping estimate said, so I was happy with that as well. If you are a professional artist, these will be a worth while addition to your art supply collection. ... show more

  • Was skeptical but these really are great markers!
Color: Set a
I was very skeptical about paying this much for markers. I am an artist and also enjoy adult coloring books but could not see paying this much for "just markers". However this is a good starter set for Copics and it provides a range of wonderful markers. You will immediately see the difference. There is no streaking, very little bleeding and the ability to blend. They are head's above regular markers and probably too good to just "waste" on coloring books but since this is what I bought them for they are doing a wonderful job. You can't use them on books that have double sided images as they will bleed thru but I find they bleed less than Prismacolor markers (both thru the paper and over the lines). I found that there is much more control to these brush tips whereas Prismacolor Premiere markers may actually leak outside the lines a bit if you press too hard. These are just a bit better - but the Prismacolor does tend to offer some darker colors and the two different brands seem to compliment each other well. Neither Prismacolor or Copic will work on those coloring books with very fine lines. The brush tips simply are not that small but there is nothign wrong with mixing marker and fine tip, colored pencil and gel pen on a single design. If you want to know what the fuss is about buy one or two of these and you'll be hooked into buying a set. ... show more

  • Great Color selection, just what I needed!
Color: Set a
I've been eyeballing Copic Ciao's for awhile and finally took the plunge and purchased them. I'm really glad I did. Part of the reason I chose to purchase these as opposed to the Sketch markers was because I was getting tired of picking out individual colors at Michael's for absurd costs. *Pros - super easy to blend, lots of colors to choose from, case to protect your markers and keep them organized *Cons - sometimes the markers might bleed outside your lines you make, the caps don't have the color numbers like the sketch markers but instead on the barrel of the marker I've used Copics for years and I can honestly say I prefer this Ciao set over any of the sketch markers I've purchased over the years. These markers have their pros and cons but if you're looking for markers that blend well, have plenty of options, and are at a good price compared to another art store these are the ones for you! ... show more

  • almost like the same as prismacolor
Color: Set a
This is really expensive, almost like the same as prismacolor, but they are great! If you don't mind the pricing, YOU WILL LOVE IT. They are refillable, double-sided, color coded, (if you want it on the cap or bigger, get the sketch, for random people that just strolled on this and don't know anything xD, the sizes from small to big is, ciao, sketch, regular(big if you ask me), and wide. go search it up or go on their website, it's really popular, actually.) easy to blend, alcohol-based, and ect, ect , ect. The nibs are nice, one side is the brush tip, and the other is chisel (I think, but it was crisp and everything.) In my opinion, if you never got copics before (like me....) or like you don't want too many and just want to use them, then maybe this set is what you should start with, It basically comes with everything, The colorless blender, Black, Brown, different shades of gray, and different shades of other color, (plus the color codes are quite close, so that means blending can be better) you can add to your collection later when you get more. xD But this is more small, so if you are working on something more big, then maybe sketch would be better, or the original cuz they hold more ink and are bigger. Dang. xD I typed too much. ... show more

  • These Markers are an absolute dream!
Color: Set a
What could I say positively about these markers that hasn't already been said by others? These markers truly do live up to the hype and they are well worth the price tag if you can afford them. These were a bit of an impulse buy for me. After hitting that "order" button, I literally asked myself "Did I just spend nearly $200 dollars on markers??" But I had been dying to try them anyway, and the Ciao line was right within my price range. These arrived two days after I ordered them, so the shipping was SUPER fast. They had the box of markers themselves reinforced with lots of cardboard and bubble wrap, so my hard plastic container wasn't broken during shipment, and all the markers inside were absolutely perfect. These markers are an absolute dream to work with, and I would recommend them to any artist who's just starting out with alcohol markers, or even to someone who's worked with markers before like myself. Just get them. Once you've got 'em, they're yours for life and they're a great investment for any artist-- hobbyist or professional. ... show more
