I like how these have two different styles to use for edges, lines, and larger spots. However, I feel like some of the colors only lasted for 2-3 pages and then they were drying out, but i could have just been heavy on the use. Either way they are worth it for the price.

I like to color with alcohol markers and have a very expensive brush tip set with refills so I though I would review these and see how well they work. I'll just start by saying I'm not the intended audience or skill level for these. After using them, I do think the intended audience of beginners would very much like these. Ink flow was good and consistent. There is a good variety of medium to dark intensity colors. The triangular shape in nice and prevents the markers from rolling off the table. The case is really nice. The caps go on tightly so the markers shouldn't dry out in storage. I was very pleased to see a blender pen included. You need this to erase out of the line mistakes or lighten colors. They numbered the markers like more expensive sets but there doesn't seem to be any meaning to the numbers. 513 and 213 look like coordinating magentas. Blues are 301, 286, and 072. In more expensive sets the first numbers tell you the color and the last number the amount of grey (darkness) of that color so you can find coloring sets (a light, medium and dark) to use. No idea why these are numbered other than marketing purposes. I can't find the company name anywhere else if you wanted refills. For this set, you also really need the blender to achieve some level of blending. It is mostly dark and medium colors meant for simple coloring. This set lacks the lighter coordinating colors you really need for artistic blending of color. On the flip side, they are giving you 48 markers and a nice plastic storage case for the price of only a few of the markers I would normally use. To achieve the effects on the squirrel image I colored with these I did find three different browns I could use together and then use the blender to lighten the nose and front. There were two browns I could use for the tree that were a different shade. There was only one green and one blue for the main parts of the grass and sky. Most of the variety there was wildly different shades of green or blue that did not go together at all. I had to rely on the blender to lighten them to get any kind of shading in grass and sky. It's a really nice set for the price. When I saw they included a blender I was hoping they had gone more artistic in the color choice and provided say 10 basic colors but in a light, medium and darker intensity that could be used for proper alcohol marker coloring. The set covers more breadth of colors instead. Kids will love this set. People looking to do basic monotonic coloring or areas will love it. If you want to do more realistic blended coloring with shadows and light reflection the set just doesn't include the lighter colors you need. Other than color selection for blending, I found it to be a very good set of alcohol markers for the $22 they were asking for it at the time of this review. ... show more

This 48 marker set has a good range of colors and are numbered and color named on both ends of the caps. The barrel is shaped rounded triangular and very comfortable to hold. They're dual tipped- fine point and the other is a chisel tip. They were inside a durable plastic hard case with a clear lid that clips and locks & inside the case the markers sit in individual cells to keep the markers safe and secure so it won't get tossed around. The case also has a handle on the top for easy carry. I stored the markers in the case laying front down so the ink saturates both ends of the markers prior to using. I swatched every color on Strathmore 400 series Marker paper and also tested the colorless blender and tried some blending techniques. So far, all the markers are still saturated and I have not experienced any dry-outs. I'm a total novice to alcohol markers so there's a learning curve for me. These markers are beautifully vibrant and lots of juicy pigment and I love that! I tried different color combinations in blending and had a little trouble at first because I had to blend quickly since they dry very fast, but kept practicing and started to get a smoother blend. The biggest takeaway from using these is that I have so much FUN using them and I'm learning a lot about how to use them. They will bleed-through if you apply a lot of layers but I placed poster board underneath the marker paper and it worked well for protecting my workspace. On certain papers like cardstock will bleed/feather so I would color a few spaces within the lines so the bleed will not reach outside the lines. I wouldn't use them on very thin coloring book pages as too much saturation tears the paper. Again, I'm not an expert on alcohol markers but these work well for beginners like me! ... show more
