First, quick notes about this product, which I LOVE. It is the perfect size for the refrigerator door, makes a cold brew that has such amazing flavor, and the pitcher even pours without spilling! I'm tempted to buy another one just to use for my iced tea (cold brew style) because it can be so challenging to find a pitcher that pours without drips. I was looking for a size that would fit on the door, a type that would make the cold brew with minimal or no residue, simple to use with easy clean up, and affordable. This one hit all of those points and really well. The rubber funnel and measuring spoon are extra bonuses that i use all the time. The picture is next to my knife block to give you size comparison and the filter with coffe is inside. Second, here are my notes regarding cold brew (and the Gator makes great cold brew!) For various reasons I have been drinking more coffee lately, but trying to drink it without my usual ton of sugar and ton of cream because I liked it sweet and creamy, not bitter which black coffee always seemed to me. Since summer was approaching I switched to iced coffee (create with french press, then chill and drink with ice) and discovered I still wanted a fair amount of cream but really didn't miss the sugar. That got me curious about the whole cold brew thing, did some research and for the reasons listed above, chose the Gator. Wow. All the research told me it would be lower in acidity, zero bitterness, and great flavor, but I was amazed how absolutely true all of that really was!! My first batch was just overnight, 3 spoonfuls (the included measuring spoon) of coarsely ground coffee. It was a bit light but WOW!! I could taste subtleties in coffee I have never tasted before! After several more attempts i landed on 4 spoons of beans (measuring only beans, not ground), coarsely ground, then 8-12 hours. Perfect. Rich. Super, super smooth. Flavors still pop out. Sometimes I add a little milk but many times I actually prefer it without the milk because the flavors are so interesting and complex! To sum up, cold brew blew my mind, it is replacing my wonderful teas more often than not. And the Coffee Gator does a fantastic job at making it simply, with easy clean up and a cup of coffee with nuances of flavors you might not have ever tasted before ... show more

    • No major complaints, this device makes a decent cup of cold brew.
No major complaints, this device makes a decent cup of cold brew. It's not rocket science, you just have to put beans in water in the fridge overnight. Because the pitcher is glass it won't absorb color/odor like plastic might, but it's also very heavy. There is a rubber o-ring between the black plastic lid and the glass pitcher, and every time I unscrew the lid the o-ring falls out and I have to put it back in. This morning as I was screwing the lid back on, the o-ring came out and fell into the bottom of the pitcher full of coffee, but the lid appears to seal without the ring, so I may just throw it out. Either way, yes, this is a functional way to cold-brew and it produces decent coffee, but if it eventually breaks I won't buy it again, I'll likely looking for something slightly larger that is made of BPA-free plastic. EDIT: I forgot to mention the accessories. The funnel works really well and is easy to clean, no complaints. BUT THE SCOOP. The instructions say to add a specific amount of coffee grinds to the filter, which is measured in ounces and grams. The scoop has its measurements printed on the handle, in CUPS AND MILLILITERS. OH BOY. I did some conversion math and found that the instructions say to use about 2.5 scoops (just under 1/3rd cup, and the scoop is 1/8 cup). That's right, they included a scoop that clearly isn't made for this device at all, it's just a random metal scoop. I did 2.5 scoops the first time to see how full the filter would be, and I'm just going to eyeball the same amount going forward and forget the scoop altogether. ... show more
