  • Cut well, left bars across the slab. Maybe it was my technique.
Style: Matte
It was my first slab to flatten, an old oak desktop. YouTube videos cautioned against running this big of a bit at full speed so I dialed it down to 9K and moved the sled by 1" increments. That left fuzzy lines across the wood so I speeded it up to 14K and that merely left some shiny, thin bars across the wood. I seemed to cut effortlessly but even going back over the desktop I had those bars. I couldn't feel them but I could see the,. Some 220/400 sandpaper on the orbital sander got rid of them but I had to sand the whole desktop. ... show more

  • Very pleased
Style: Matte
So far with the first facet of the changeable blade it is great. I haven't done enough to dull the first facet of the rotatable/changeable blade. I am flattening slabs at this point I am dialing in adjustments on the router sled and vacuum system so only about 28 square feet have been routered at a depth of about 1/8 each pass on the end grain of red oak "cookies". ... show more

  • Works Great
Style: Matte
The media could not be loaded. Not sure how this would perform but received it put it into the cnc and did a test run and it cuts like butter. Carbides cutters look great and are sharp. I tried cut in one direction and bidirectional and it did great. I was cutting 0.02 " , 0.03" and tried 0.125" with no problems. Shipping was quick the price is good and seems to be good quality. It really looks exactly like the SPE Tool version and used their settings with no issues. ... show more

  • Clean Cutter
Style: Matte
Good results with this bit flattening a 1.5” piece of cherry for an end table. A little tight in my collet extender, but came out ok. Edges still very sharp. Works better than my 4 flute heavy duty 2” bit.

  • Arrived chipped.
Style: Matte
Probably still cuts great, but I was expecting a bit more QC for such an expensive bit.

  • Hot knife in butter
Style: Matte
I started off with this but surfacing a rosewood cookie on a router sled. I was super impressed with how smooth it ran through the rosewood (1/16” passes). I was using a 3/4” mortising but for surfacing before this and it’s a night and day difference. I love that the blades can be rotated for a new sharp edge. I’d buy this again any day. ... show more

  • WOW! Cut thru a warped end-grain cutting board like butter!!!
Style: Matte
After having ordered a $16 BINSTAK CNC 1" x 1/4" shank flattening bit some time ago, I finally got to using it yesterday on a very warped 24x24 end-grain cutting board. It was a struggle, even with very light 1/64" passes with very slow feed rate. It was literally tearing out the wood grain - in the field - not just at the edges, which told me it was not sharp enough. So I decided not to ruin a very expensive cutting board, and ordered an awesome upgrade flattening bit from Amazon (THIS ONE!), which arrived this morning. What an amazing difference!!! This thing glided right thru that end grain like butter! The upgrade was worth every penny, and will likely serve me for life, with replaceable cutter inserts. Don't go cheap! Get a good quality bit!!! ... show more

  • Excessive vibration above 14k rpm
Style: Matte
On arrival, checked bit, screws, inserts. Put the bit in my Dewalt 621. Turned it on and WOW! Realized speed was set to max. At top speed, vibration SO bad the power on hold won't stay engaged. Rattled my depth indicator rod out (can't find the nut :( Turned router down to minimum (8k rpm) Took it out, sanded the shaft with 1500 grit. One tiny defect. Took collet out, cleaned collet and throat. removed each cutter. Check for debris. Reseated cutters. Put the bit in my drill press with dial indicator and checked runout on shaft. Shaft is fine. But the arms are each different lengths by 7 thousandths. Can only run at slow speed and still vibrates too much. Have asked for an exchange. ... show more
