  • Love this product
Instructions were very easy to follow. It only took me a few minutes to program. I already had a cat door for my out side cat to enter the screen porch, but I was alway having to manually lock it so my inside cats could also utilize the screen porch without escaping. This cat door eliminated the manual process and now both I and the outside cat are extremely happy with this door. ... show more

  • Works, room for improvement.
Door is solid, 16lbs cat able to walk in but slowly. Material is good quality, the door latch is sturdy enough to keep other cats out but not sure if it will hold if a cat suddenly tries to run in without waiting for micro chip to be read. Cat learned to use in just 2 days and is a pro at it. At times you will see the door not latch open but cat will learn that he needs to wait a sec or two in some occasions. Not a flaw, and this will not affect the use but give your cat time and don't get frustrated or your cat will see that and also give up. Overall the door does work as designed and I have zero problems. I am ysing this to keep one cat from eating the others and it works. Remmeber that this door only microchip reads to go in as in one direction. Read the info before you purchase. ... show more

  • Exactly what we needed
Used these cat flaps to make a ridiculous contraption to keep our two food-hound cats from eating each other’s food. One cat needs super expensive prescription food or he’ll make urinary crystals, block, and die, and the other one eats normal food. Both will do absolutely anything to get food. We thought the electric feeders would do the trick, but the one who needs prescription food learned how to head-butt the feeder to make kibbles fall out, which he absolutely cannot do with the other cat’s food. But it makes it like 8 times more expensive to feed the other cat if we feed them both prescription food. So, we built this box to keep them away from each other’s food (and secure the cat feeder to the wall of the box to keep the one cat from stealing kibbles). Each cat’s microchip is keyed to their own door, and can only enter their own side to eat. One cat (“the Brains”) figured it out really quickly after an initial period of nervousness. The other cat (“the Braun”) took a few days to get it figured out, didn’t like eating in the box, during which time I unceremoniously shoved him though the cat flap for each feeding (to his great displeasure). He eventually realized that he was free to come and go as he wanted and now happily uses the flap/box just like the other one. (In case you’re shopping for this same purpose — we also bought the box from here, it’s a wooden/teak deck box with an added center divider). ... show more

  • Not Raccoon Proof!
A clever raccoon has figured out how to defeat this locked flap when it's set on the "open only on chip" setting. We have set it to the more secure "fully locked" setting at night to stop the raccoon, but now the cats can't go in and out at that time. But we will trap the raccoon and release it far from our house. In 16 years of using a cat flap, we've never seen a raccoon until now. SureFlap makes a dual scan cat door, so we'll be getting it to defeat raccoons. More expensive than this one, but worth it. The flap works well otherwise, but you'll need to get the super heavy-duty Duracell batteries because this thing eats batteries. Amazon Basic batteries were dying after only one week of use. ... show more

  • Great door at a great price
This door works really well. It is easy to install (if your comfortable cutting a hole in your door) and is simple to program. Training the cat to use it was a little tougher. After a few days of looking at it like it was a window, I took tape and taped it open. That allowed them to get used to running in and out of it. I did this for a few days, left it closed for a day, and taped it back open again. After a week of this, I left it closed. Quickly they started going out it , but it took about a week to figure out coming back in. Total training time was approximately 2 weeks and they do not hesitate to use it now. ... show more

  • Little difficult to program but over all works
I’m not sure if you can tell from the photo, but I already use a sure feed bowl which does NOT do the job. My fat cat just breaks into it. So I decided to get a microchip cat door but I refused to pay 160$ for another surefeed product that doesn’t work. At least if my fat cat breaks into this cat door I can always try the more expensive option… My only problem with this cat door so far is that the microchip reader is very difficult. I had to take the reader plate completely off, hold my cat in the door for THREE MINUTES. ... show more

  • Works as advertised but your pet may need some time to adjust.
I used these to separate the feeding stations for my two cats as pictured. Each is synced to its own door to enter the separated feeders. The one cat adapted and accepted it in a few days, goes in and out like it is just a minor inconvenience. However my other cat has not warmed up to the whole experience so quickly and still requires some "help" to go through the door. The issue seems to be that she get spooked by the noise and then backs away, after more than a week that is still the case. This would be the only caveat, but this has nothing to do the cat door itself, that works perfectly and was very easy to set up. ... show more
