Motor arrived with oil spilled all over bag that covers the motor. Missing air filter. I have requested the air filter to be sent. If I don't receive it within 7-10 days, I am returning the order for a full refund. I can't even test the motor yet because of the missing air filter. This is a nice little motor for getting up an down our little river. It is not a 4 HP. My 2.5 HP Mercury does about the same speed. It is nice that you dont need to mix the gas. I dont have to worry about the kids messing up the mixture. It is on the loud side but after a few years it is still running well. I did have to beef up the throttle spring but besides that runs great for the price. ... show more

    • Starts easy, runs smooth!
Put this on a 14ft V bottom 2 person boat from the 60's. It run about 5mph forward and 3mph in reverse. After burning 4 hours of gas and doing several donuts in reverse and forward I sold the boat. Air cooled is a plus...I do wish the exhaust exited under the water but get some earplugs...and leave em in when you are fishing so you can pretend you don't hear anyone complaining! ... show more

    • It works but you get what you pay for
Good little outboard on a budget. It is a 4 stroke like a small lawn mower engine that does start very easy. Throttle control arm is fairly short but manageable. only thing i see i don’t like is the throttle selection. prop doesn’t engage till you pass three points than only have maybe 4 points of throttle and the last 4 points for hi selection bogs the motor down to a choking stall. but overall i do like it and is much faster than trolling motor and fairly quiet compared to some other 2 stoke outboards on Amazon that literally is like using a gas trimmer which would be very loud and annoying but this is not. I have a 12’ sun dolphin Jon boat i use for this ... show more

    • Fell apart within a few uses. $87 restocking fee
Do not buy this outboard. I had reasonable expectations being a $300 outboard. However the clutch fell apart after a few uses before not starting back up at all. Seller accepted refund - however charges an $87 restocking fee and shipping to return is paid by the buyer and is generally $100 or more. Cost me ($115) ... show more

    • compact, light little motor
I'm using the "CLIENSY 4HP 4 Stroke Outboard Motor" on a "Mariner 4 Inflatable Raft". The motor is a little loud at full power (loud yelling to communicate over the noise) but quieter then expected at idle (talking just loader than normal). Top speed was 6 MPH with about 600 lb in the boat (two fat men and some gear). A bit slower in rougher water. One tank of gas lasted an hour if running full throttle. The box the motor arrived in was a little beat-up and had oil all over the inside. I was concerned but wiped everything down and let it sit out in the garage for 2 weeks before hitting the water and everything ran as advertised (I added all of the required fluids the mourning I headed out to the lake). All and all, not a bad little outboard. (The impeller is smaller then I was expecting. I can hit the same max speeds with an electric trolling motor i purchased a few years back that is much quieter but lacks the rang) ... show more
