  • This makes a great RANGE BAG
Style: 44 Pocket Tool Backpack
I snagged this Custom Leathercraft backpack tool bag on an Amazon Lightening Deal to use as a range bag. I loaded it up with 650 rounds of ammo, 1 full size handgun, 6 high capacity magazines, 2 sets of low profile ear protection, extra sets of disposable ear protection, 4 sets of eye protection, small lube/tool range kit, flashlight, range log and various rags. I could easily fit a second handgun with additional mags, no problem. The bag is certainly rugged enough to handle the weight load of more ammo but I doubt I'd still be about to sling it on my back. It's now had a couple of trips to the range and I am extremely pleased. The material is thick and durable, the zippers are tough and the stitching is heavyweight. There is an ample amount of interior pockets so everything can be organized in its own spot. An added bonus is the row of pockets in each compartment that are the perfect size to hold individual magazines. I have noticed I could use a couple of wider pockets though so a bit of customizing by cutting the stitching in between some smaller ones should fix that. There is an elastic strap sewn into the interior flap which is great for keeping lightweight items like glasses in place at the top of the bag so they don't get crushed. The back and straps are padded which make it comfortable to carry. The bottom has a semi-rigid form (approx. 9"x11") sewn into it with rubber grips on each corner which keeps it from sitting directly on the floor. The bag sits upright nicely without flopping over and all compartment zippers can be open fully to the bottom which makes accessing everything inside very convenient. The two heavy duty loop carrying handles on the top of the bag make it easy to move the pack around when it's not slung on the back. For a quick trip to the indoor range, this is a great bag and I have no doubt it will withstand many, many years of range use. My husband had a good chuckle when it arrived and I told him of its intended use. Now that he has seen how well it functions and the practicality of my choice, he has requested one of his own. Bonus - this is a fairly anonymous looking bag and therefore does not advertise the presence of expensive firearms. Nondescript is a good thing at times. ... show more

  • I love this bag (tho it's not the toughest!)
Style: 75 Pocket Tool Backpack
I used this bag for two years before it broke. I loved this bag. I loved the organizing function: a pocket for every tool. It really excels at that! A pocket for every wrench and screwdriver - if you forget to put a tool in your bag, the empty slot reminds you to look for it. Pro: The ripstop nylon is really good! I had a few holes (a welder melted some holes thru it) that never spread or grew larger. Really good stuff. The pockets - especially those with velcro covers. You can put spare screws in there, tiny tools, whatever. HOWEVER! There are some caveats! Because the sections of the bag work like pages of a book, you have to lay the bag out flat to "page" through it and access all your tools. If you are working in cramped quarters or a hallway, this has an enormous footprint. As you page through, tools tend to fling themselves out of the slots and pockets. Even when you turn the pages very carefully. The bag cannot sit up. And you cannot access tools without opening it fully, flat on the ground. Most importantly, all the weight of the tools pulls on the zippers. There are structural zippers. The zipper between the shoulder straps and the rest of the bag bears the weight of almost all your tools and will always break. I can recommend this only for light duty, sadly. I loved this bag. ... show more

  • Christmas Hit!!!
Style: 75 Pocket Tool Backpack
My kids and I got this for the hubs/dad for Christmas this year. He works in the commercial door repair business every single day and for the last 5yrs the only bag we could find that could remotely hold all the tools he needs on a daily basis was the stupid already very heavy veto pro pack xl. However their bags only have 56 pockets, a single shoulder strap or one giant handle in the center to carry it and it causes him not only physical pain carrying 75-80pds daily to multiple jobs on one shoulder or hand, caused him to have to have a second tool bag for the other half of his tools that didn’t fit in the veto bag, and caused him to have to make multiple trips to and from his work truck depending on what he needed on each job, parts, and 5ft ladder. He disliked the veto because of the weight of the bag alone, the pockets were just awkward for all his screwdrivers, wrenches, etc, he would lose smaller things like wire caps, drill bits, small screwdrivers, small allen wrenches, etc. We have been looking for something like this for the last two years and the only other bag that would hold enough and was either on wheels with a long enough handle for his 6’1 height and wasn’t going to force us to sell a kidney on the black market to be able to afford it was the new veto pro tech xl bag and no way did he want to basically pay $500 for the same exact annoying, awkward, no organization bag twice the price because gasp….it came on wheels. My husband immediately got his veto bag out of his work truck and started loading up the CLC backpack tool bag and even with multiple sets of screwdrivers, multiple sets of wrenches, files, multiple pliers, multiple allen wrenches, wire cutters, meter tester, and we were shocked that he not only couldn’t possibly fill every pocket but he also has specific pockets for his hammers, sledge hammers, and a Milwaukee impact driver m18 and he loved the little organizer that was also able to fit multiple drill bits, extensions, and the fact he also has pockets for all his concrete, countersink, fluted bits, etc and he can easily identify the ones he needs and not have to dig through a no man’s land pocket for 10mins or keep them all in the original cases separately in the truck and have to make multiple trips to and from his truck. So far he loves it and it is massively noticeably lighter with far more tools than the veto bag. I will post pics of it loaded and the weight in about a week once he is done with figuring out that even with every tool from the veto bag all have their own pockets, he gets to actually use it and can give an honest view of pros and cons, and whether it can withstand the daily use in the commercial door repair industry. I can honestly say I have been going to work with him just to get out of the house and spend quality time together and I help him on every job for the last 10yrs and I have never ever seen his tool bag organized like it is now with the CLC backpack tool bag and each tool has it’s own specific spot and he still hasn’t filled every pocket in the CLC bag. I will post pics and another review in a couple weeks so he can use it and he starts figuring out what other tools he can add to the bag, his honest pros and cons, and especially the durability of the bag in the commercial door repair industry going to multiple jobs every day and if the bag is worth the investment. ... show more
