The 14- inch profile Gramercy Hybrid Gel Memory Foam Innerspring Mattress combines the support of a wrapped steel coil innersprings with the conforming response of gel memory foam. The box-top layers consist of 1-inch layer of gel infused memory foam that disperses body heat, 0.25 inch over 0.5 inch of comfort foam. A second layer of 1-inch Gel Memory Foam which creates a cooler sleeping surface. Two additional layers of 2 inches of comfort foam and .75 inch of comfort foam works with the 8-inch support layer of individually wrapped coils, which are encased in separate pockets, so they can contour precisely to your body. Size: Twin XL Style: Mattress
The media could not be loaded. We purchased 2 twin XL mattresses to go with our twin XL adjustable bases (these are known as 'split king' in some areas). We had the bases sync'd together under our previous king size mattress and it was great; until we went to sleep. There were times that I wanted to be in a 'zero G' position, but my wife was sleeping on her side, so... After waking up one morning, I decided enough was enough and we need to split (beds, that is!), so we went looking at mattresses and was totally shocked by the costs on 'some' mattresses. You've seen them, I'm sure. Now some of those mattresses might be just like sleeping on a cloud that's constantly refreshed and rocked by angels, but I'll never know, because I won't pay $2000 for a twin XL mattress! Holy cow! So, we headed to Amazon. Now buying a mattress online, without a means to test drive it, is a little daunting to say the least. After cruising through several brands and dozens of reviews, we settled on this one! We're only about 2 weeks in on these and are very pleased that we went with this brand and style. I've uploaded a video to show the unpacking. The UPS delivery tracking stated '73 lbs' per box and they were packed in 2 separate boxes, about the width of the mattress (imagine that!). You'll see me hauling these in. I'm 6' 4" and 320 lbs, so they weren't a big deal for me to get them in, but be careful if you aren't a moose, just get some help. I would have, if I needed it. I took them downstairs to unwrap and let them air out. They're wrapped up in a vacuum packed bundle, with tape around the roll. The roll is about 13"-15" inches for the twin XL units. Being super careful while using a knife to cut the tape and unroll each one, they start to expand really well once you've unrolled them. The first one that we unwrapped, you can see my son reacting to the high-pitched whistle of air being sucked into the bag! They do have a pretty strong 'gel-foam' aroma when unboxed, but it decreases a lot by the next day. It takes a few days to go away completely. We purchased mattress covers to go on them and that helped A LOT with the smell ! Sleep Tite by Malouf® Hypoallergenic 100% Waterproof Mattress Protector- 15-Year Warranty - Twin XL Once fully 'inflated', the mattress lives up to it's billing of 14", so you'll want to be really careful picking out sheets. We got a set of flannels that listed as 'fitting to 16 inches' but there's no way that was true. Maybe 16 inches if you compress it and let it snap back...! There might be people who will tell you "yeah, but ours has this warranty" or " we'll be here if you ever have a problem with it" or something to that effect, but you're not really going to have better luck with them, and you almost certainly will NOT get a better nights sleep that makes up for the $1700 difference in price! Overall, for the cost/comfort ratio, these mattresses are working out very well !! I'll post updates periodically to let you know how well they do over time! ****UPDATE**** It's been a bit over a month since we got these, and they're still GREAT! We have these on adjustable bases and they are able to flex sufficiently to get into any of the positions that the bases can do! I'm sleeping great and between these and the 'zero G' option on the base, my near constant lower back pain is gone! I wake up in the mornings without pain! That, by itself, is worth the cost of the mattresses and the bases! The mattresses are doing their job, and they have no sags or any other 'breakdown' type issues, like dipping sides. Though, with this set, they're pretty tall, so they don't get sat on a lot by anyone, just looking to chat in the mornings. I'll keep you posted! ****2nd UPDATE**** It's been 4 months now and these mattresses are still doing their job! I'm very pleased! For these to be worth it (for me) they'll need to hit 2 years, so I'll keep you posted. Still no issues with 'perma-dents' or anything like that and I'm still low-back pain-free in the mornings! Yay! I think the only thing that *still* gets me is the height! Man, these things are tall. As a result, I need to wiggle about a bit to get positioned where I want. Before, I'd just kinda 'drop-roll' because the mattress was lower and that would get me where I need to be, but not with this set! Oh well! ;) ****3rd UPDATE**** It's now been over a year and I'm still very happy with this mattress. A couple of things that I've discovered that may help someone is, 1) use a mattress cover of some kind, and 2) you'll need 'tall' bottom sheets, of good quality and that should help a lot with the overheating. I still don't have any break-down on the sides or the top (no low spots or sinking!) I'm still using this mattress on the adjustable base and it's still in great shape! So far, a good value for the money. If I can get another couple of years out of it, I'll be happy! That's about the time that I'll be looking for something else (I'm getting older after all!). ;) ... show more

    • The right foundation matters!

I love this bed! Bought in 2019 and now 5 years old. My husband prefers a softer mattress, I like med firm. I’d say it’s a medium firm but the pillow top gives it a plush feel. No transfer movement issues. We learned after 2-3 months that the bed felt “uneven” as if it has sink holes or a decline(mainly on hubby’s side); well it did, it was getting pocketed into the too wide slats on our bed. I initially bought a zinus low profile-since our bed frame is adjustable bed compatible (meaning there are only 3-4 slats about 12” or more apart); Zinus slats are 5”apart, at least the one I bought was. We upgraded our foundation to one with slats 3” apart and it solved the issue and my husband bbecame a fan! It was an expensive buy (foundation) but upgraded the mattress performance/feel. Don’t hesitate! We use a waterproof protector, from day 1, another expensive buy and it also helps-looking to switch it out soon for an organic breathable one. Be prepared with deep pocket sheets. We also have an Dreamcloud, but a queen size in the guest room. Our next mattress in 4-5 yrs will have a bigger ticket price. Happy sleeping :-) ... show more

UPDATE: As I wrote I liked this bed so much I ordered and paid for a King Size version of the same! Unfortunately, Amazon isn't indicating that I have done this - it is only saying I got and reviewed a free bed. True. But I have now been sleeping on my new King Size bed for a couple weeks and I couldn't be happier!!!!! I'm going to walk you through this product, because it deserves it. I slept like a baby on this bed - previous back and neck pain I've had upon waking up is GONE! First of all, I've never had a hybrid bed or a latex or gel bed before. I've always had a traditional spring (and down or fabric: pillow top) mattress on a box spring. I've always thought they were just fine - after all, I typically bought fairly high end beds. I have always said I needed a firm mattress for my back, but I found that a pillow top set on a firm mattress worked well - so the hard beds I'd slept on weren't necessary. Now, I get this Gramercy 14 inch Hybrid bed.... First of all - you're going to have your world rocked when it arrives, because it comes in a long cylindrical box - certainly nothing you've ever seen a mattress in before - a futon maybe, but not a mattress. I was underwhelmed. I figured this mattress was going to be real crap! - hard, fibrous, heavy (it weighs over 100 pounds for a Queen size) piece of crap! Boy was I wrong. You need two people to move this thing OR you can do what I did, I flip rolled it, end on end, which meant I didn't have to actually lift it, just get good leverage on it - I did this up two flights of stairs - and while I did break a sweat, I didn't break my back. I got it out of the box and then using a pair of blunt tipped sharp scissors I cut a slit down the length of it. when I got to the end - SPROING!!! - the mattress opened up - not in a recoiling violent motion, but fast (so do it away from breakables). What you have is a 14 inch luxurious white, grey and black (heck I like the looks of this mattress all by itself, which I can say is the case with most I've bought in the past). mattress with nicely woven and fitted hand grips all around. Now, here's the key: DO NOT USE A BOXSPRING!!! I ordered a separate bed frame to go with this free review bed - it stands about a foot high and is about $89.00 on Amazon and goes together in five or ten minutes - and is lightweight but sturdy and allows this mattress to breathe - which is what these kind of mattresses are supposed to do I'm told. As a result you end up with a bed higher than the typical boxspring. Finally, I sat down....MUSH.......Hmmmm, not sure I like this marshmallow..... Then I laid back on it and found it was mush on top, it really gave, but I could feel the support underneath the mush. I made it up and laid back down on it. MUSH! But then the kids came in and started climbing around - and I couldn't feel them doing so. Darned if this thing doesn't do a good job of isolating motion. I don't know that I want to try the red wine glass test, but it's pretty isolating. It keeps you temperate without warming you up on a hot humid night (yes, I have air conditioning here in Atlanta, and I like it cold, but typically I still get hot in bed). I am loving this bed! I slept on it for several nights and really fell in love with it. This is in the guest bedroom, but I have already ordered a King Size for the master bedroom. I think this is exactly what manufacturers hope for when they send out products for us to review - and this time I can say the product really REALLY matches the hype. Instead of spending several thousand dollars on a Temperpedic or Sleep number bed, I'm getting a KING size well under a thousand bucks! This is a heck of a bed folks!!!! I'm very very impressed - and it's got a 10 year warranty!!!!! How awesome is that?! ... show more
