  • Great brakes, pay attention to spacers.
Put these on my hardtail mountain bike, front wheel. Good stopping power, even in the damp. Will squeak occasionally in the damp, but I've only done 4 hours of riding so far, so maybe they will break in a bit more. Have not tried replacing the pads, so cannot comment on that aspect yet. Even on my older rims, which have some wear, the braking capability is much better than the ones that came on the bike, and certainly better than in the worn state they were in. New brakes are a good thing. Fairly easy to install, depending on your bike's caliper designs, just like all other threaded post v-brakes. One thing of note that I wish I had realized when installing is that the two silver spaces are different sizes. My existing pads had the smaller spacer on the inside, and I installed these as they came in the package, with the larger spacer on the inside. As a result I had to totally re-adjust my brake cabling. Also it made getting the wheel back on harder than it should have been (I installed larger trail tires at the same time, and the larger spacer pushed the pads in toward the wheel, leaving less clearance. Nothing wrong with the design, just pay attention to how your brakes are installed before installing these, and do it the same way. Overall, great brakes, and will probably replace my rear brakes with these when they wear out. ... show more

  • Great Pads!
I put them on my cruiser because the original brakes where worthless no stopping power. I changed over to the red Clark pads and I've noticed a grate improvement. They did make a little nose at first. The black pads seem to be too hard. Had some trouble making the clips work right. I had to use a small cotter pin for one side but I'm just glad I can stop when I want now. ... show more

great shoes, the pads suck but for the price it was still a good deal

  • Great product at a very nice price
Great product at a very nice price. You are essentially getting a free bonus set of replacement pads, which makes it especially good value. Good braking power, and easy to adjust toe-in. I haven't had any issues with squealing.

  • Five Stars
Using these Clarks shoes for custom 72mm carbon brake pads. Update: 10/24/18 CLARKS shoes & pads combo is great , I modified them for road use, and the 72mm braking surface is SUPERIOR on carbon rims. I am using 55mm on the rear (I bought 2 sets) & there is no comparison in braking power, it's just not fair & that's taking into consideration most of the braking force occurs in the front for 200lb rider. Going to change out the rears for Clark's all day! ... show more

  • Holder good, pads bad
I bought these for the ability to replace the pads easily. And you will need to because the included pads will literally melt away in short order. A month of rainy commutes (about 300 miles) was all it took to get a pair down past the wear-limit indicators. If you shop around you can get replacement pads for about $6 bucks. So, I bought them for the holders. ... show more
