  • Great colors
Size: 24 x 30 cm Style: Card Pad No 1
Pastels hold on well. The colors of the pages are perfect for my need. Great buy.

  • Love this paper!
Size: 24 x 30 cm Style: Card Pad No 1
Pastelmat clairefontaine is simply the best paper for pastels. Low dust, enough "tooth" to layer lots of color.

  • Perfect surface for pastels
Size: 24 x 30 cm Style: Card Pad No 1
The only paper I like to use doesn’t eat soft pastels and can still do many layers

  • Great Paper
Size: 24 x 30 cm Style: Card Pad No 1
I bought this paper as I've read you can get amazing results with it using colored pencil. I liked how it worked with CP; however I really became enamored with it while playing with pastels. I think it is better suited for pastel work. I love the tooth, it isn't too gritty has a fairly smooth feel to it and the hard back will make it easy to mat/frame. I'm probably not doing CP work on this support correctly, but I sure like the outcome with pastels. And the tooth won't eat up your CP as much as regular sanded paper. It's worth the price. ... show more

  • Clairfontaine pastelmat was a little difficult to get used at first.
Size: 24 x 30 cm Style: Card Pad No 1
Clairfontaine pastelmat was a little difficult to get used at first. but once I did, I found it to be superior material for pastel art work. It is a little difficult to blend pastel on pastelmat the way I normally did with Uart. It is better to use the pan pastel spreader than pipe foam insulation that I normally used on Uart. The pastel really sticks well to pastelmat and the colors seem bright and less prone to smudging. Pastelmat is velvety to the touch rather than like sandpaper. I am very pleased with the results and highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Wonderful, but a bit hard on the wallet
Size: 24 x 30 cm Style: Card Pad No 1
I purchased this to use primarily for colored pencil animal portraits due to multiple recommendations. Although I was a little leery of the price and the thought of grinding down my Faber Castell Polychromos on what sounded essentially like fine grit sandpaper, I gave it a try. I will say that it does eat your pencils very quickly. In fact, I busted out some largely unused pan pastels just to fill in the grit a tiny bit so I could reserve the pencils for the finer detail work. But after a whole year of using smooth Strathmore paper, I realized I missed doing light over dark techniques. The pastelmat will take whatever you throw at it including light over dark, and is a nice treat for colored pencil. ... show more

  • Package arrived warped and won't flatten
Size: 24 x 30 cm Style: Card Pad No 1
Update: I’ve returned this and am waiting or replacement. I’ll update again later. —————- I received this on Feb 13th, 2020 and haven't even tried to use it yet due to the paper being warped. It arrived this way and I've had it under heavy weights every since. This is the picture I took today and you can see how curved it is. I have never used PastelMat (or pastels) before but have only heard good things but don't know what to do with this bent paper. I've heard that pastels tend to come off the paper easily or even crack so don't know if taping it to a board would work if it's just going to bend again once I take the tape off. I'm giving it 3 stars as a "medium" rating and will adjust up or down later after I see how it works. Anyone know how to fix this? ... show more

  • Great quality, thicker mat is easy to work on.
Size: 24 x 30 cm Style: Card Pad No 1
Wonderful surface for holding multiple layers of pastel or pencil, great quality. Feels soft... Only one drawback, a bit difficult to erase on, so be sure of your sketch and composition. Wish more sizes would be more available to get at regular prices on Amazon, will have to order more on an artist specific website. ... show more
