according to my DD, that is {G} it's a mermaid costume, and it's pink -- in her world it just doesn't get any better than that! the packaging says child's small (4-6) is intended to fit children ages 3-4 -- all I can think is "yeah right!" my DD is 6yo, ~46" and ~45 lbs, and this costume fits her just fine this year (we won't get another year out of it); I don't think I've ever seen a 3-4yo child that big, so consider that this costume runs pretty large (DD had a bit of trouble w/stepping on the fins, I can't see how a smaller child would manage). also, it's usually pretty chilly in Utah at the end of October, so my DD has worn long-sleeved knit shirts and stretch knit pants under the costume (she's got plenty of pink clothes! lol), even indoors at school, and while the extra layer of clothes makes for a snug fit, fortunately it doesn't make this costume any less cute -- it's still obviously a mermaid, even if the mesh arm pieces are hidden inside a coat while trick-or-treating outdoors. ;\ if your daughter (niece, granddaughter, etc.) loves pink and mermaids as much as mine does, this costume will be a double-hit! :) ... show more

Ok, this isn't a high quality costume (it was only $13!), there was a run on the back part of the dress and a couple small black dots on the front (like a pen mark), but for all that it's really a beautiful costume and looks amazing on and I couldn't be happier! My daughter looks lovely in it and is thrilled. She is a tall 5 year old and wears a size 7 (she's about 48" and 50lbs) and the medium fit her perfect. The tail is long and does lie on the floor. I tucked it under at the waist and pinned it to bring it off the floor so she could wear it to school today. For just an hour or two at a party or for dress up the long tail is probably fine. The only thing I really didn't like about it though, is that it fastens in back with velcro and every time you undo it the velcro it manages to grab the thin netting of the top part of the dress. I'm pretty sure it will be filled with holes in no time. I wish it just had a tie. ... show more

This costume was just delivered today. I tried it on my 4 year old, who is tall for her age, and we will have to pin it up. My daughter’s 1st question was “How am I going to walk in this??” It’s very pretty but fits very snugly except for the length which is very long.

This was very pretty and my child was very happy. Lots of glitz and sparkle. It was a fitted costume, but we were able to fit a long sleeve T-shirt under it when Halloween was too cold. The small was the right fit for my size 4/5 preschooler, but I did have to remove the bottom of the tail and move it up so that she could walk because it was way too long. Simple rip and sew job, but we couldn't have walked in the costume without the fix. She has played in it several times since Halloween and it has held up well. I bought this costume for my 7-year old. She's short for her age and average in weight. This costume barely fits her around the chest, arms and waist. The armholes are very small and I could barely velcro it closed at the neck. The length is perfect though. The costume looks pretty but I don't think it will survive more than a few wearings. It's very hard to walk in and my daughter would step on the tail if it were any longer. I'm hoping it doesn't tear if she makes any sudden movements (as young children tend to do). I'll be surprised if it lasts more than one night. It certainly was not worth the $24 I paid for it. I also wasn't happy that the price increased by $7 in the hour that I was browsing on Amazon trying to find something better. At least my daughter likes it. ... show more

This is precious costume that my daughter adored. It held up well to being played in before Halloween and for hours of trick or treating. Like anything with Velcro, you obviously have to be careful to keep the Velcro away from more delicate material, but it really isn't that hard. It fit my daughter perfectly, and she had no difficulty walking or even jogging in it. I was concerned about buying it based on the reviews, but my daughter had her heart set on it, and I am so glad that she did. If you think that overweight=average, then this is not the costume for your child. If you can't figure out that Velcro can snag on material, and take simple precautions, this is not the costume for your child. Otherwise, it is fabulous. ... show more

Sizing here is really odd. I intentionally bought a larger size so my daughter could wear a turtleneck and pants under it (gets cold in Michigan for Halloween), but when we got it, it was barely big enough to get on my 7.5 year old, except for length, which was an extra foot too long, meaning she had to kick the fin out every time she took a step. My daughter is really slim, but about average for height. So we tried on the size small we'd gotten for her little sister to see how it fit, and while the length was perfect, she couldn't even get it on without me worrying she'd rip out the sleeves. We're sending them both back because they just won't fit. For the price, the quality was exactly what I would expect. It's just the sizing that ruins this. ... show more
