If you're a first time Chacos or Tevas customer, I'd really recommend trying these on in store. I bought these and Teva Tirras and neither really worked for me. I would have known this if I had done my research better, but the back strap on these Chacos does not adjust. I have a wide foot but smaller heels (I guess this doesn't always correlate with ankle size because I have cankles but I often have problems with heels being too big) and the heel on this chaco was way too loose. (for anyone comparing, you also can't adjust Teva Tirra's ankle and they were also too big for my heel). I went to a store and tried on a lot of shoes and ended up with the Chaco Lowdown sandal where you can adjust the heel. The lowdowns are also slightly lighter and smaller, although that likely means there isn't as much cushion if you're hiking over rocks, etc. Both have great arch support, similar to Vionic which is my normal go-to. ... show more

I really like how supportive these sandals are and feel they will hold up well. The straps have this peculiar system where you pull at them to get them adjusted to custom fit your feet... maybe it just takes some time to adapt to but some days I feel like as the day goes by my big toe is getting strangled. I don't know if they tighten up or if my toes swell. So. I don't love that about them, and it takes longer to get in and out of them as you must do this adjusting every time you put them on and off. ... show more

I thought I'd post this for those who are in between sizes, since a lot of reviews tell people to size up. My regular shoe size is a 7.5 wide and I have wide feet with a normal width in the heel (think duck feet). I generally size up when half sizes are not available, so I ordered an 8 wide (sandal on the right). There was too much toe room and they felt generally ill-fitting and awkward. The back strap was too loose and couldn't be tightened without pulling the top strap too tight. I then ordered a 7 wide (sandal on the left) and they fit perfectly. They feel comfortable and not at all clunky on my feet like the 8 wide did. I'm still getting used to the footbed, as I've never worn Chaco's before (the footbed is much more substantial than the Teva's I'd been wearing). I'll come back and update once I've worn them more. I was able to first try on different styles of Chaco's in an outdoor store, but had to go online to find them in a wide width. The model without the toe strap was more comfortable to me, but the toe strap makes them feel secure on my feet. I also like the single strap vs the double strap model. It's way too difficult to get the double strap adjusted properly. Anyway, I'm keeping the 7 wide, so my advice is to try to size down if you're in between sizes, depending on how you like your shoes to fit. Update: I've had these sandals now for about a year and after the adjustment period, I love them. I just went to a convention that had a ton of walking, and these were more comfortable to walk in than my expensive running shoes. My only issue lately is that the straps keep loosening on their own, and I have to keep tightening them. ... show more

The photo is of my old pair & the new, both size 8. New are about 1/8" to 3/16" shorter. I'm ok with that since I'm more of a 7.5. Although I'd wanted a size 7, which I also ordered, & 7 runs smaller than the 7 I tried in stores. I was hoping to make a size 7 work for me, bc the 8 straps don't tighten enough on my narrow foot. I wish the heel strap adjusted, or that Chaco would make a narrow option. Also, these have a crazy strong chemical & rubber smell that is not going away after opening. I don't remember my old pair off-gassing that strongly. ... show more

I love Chacos, and adding the cloud to them makes them even better. It is important to make sure you have the right size, I wore a size 9 regular width for years and while I still found them to be comfortable, every spring I’d deal with nasty blisters on the bottom of my feet until they’d adjust. Well I finally measured my feet and turns out I had the wrong size! A wide width one size smaller made all the difference and I no longer get blisters. I put these on and it’s like they were made for me. No break in needed! I expect that’s due to the little extra cushiness from the cloud. ... show more
