Description

The ultimate telescope for the novice to intermediate astronomer, the Inspire 100AZ features the largest aperture in the Inspire family line and its short tube offers a wider field of view perfectly suited for larger, fainter deep sky objects. Packed with features never seen before on entry level telescopes, Inspire features fully coated glass optics, a solid altazimuth mount with a unique asymmetrical design, a sturdy steel tripod with integrated fold-up accessory tray, an integrated smartphone adapter, built-in red LED flashlight, large projected reticle finder scope, erect image optics, and a focus micrometer for easily returning to the same focus point. The Inspire has the easiest setup of any telescope in its class. Simply pop open the tripod legs, turn the lock knob on the accessory tray, and attach the telescope tube to the base using the quick release dovetail mount. You are now ready to observe! The lens cap has an integrated smartphone adapter built into it. Place your smartphone against the rubberized friction surface on the outside of the cap so your camera is viewing through the imaging port. Secure the smartphone using the two adjustable bungee cords. The inside of the lens cap has a fitting that secures to your eyepiece using two set screws. Voila! You are now ready to take high power images through the telescope. The mount has a red LED flashlight built-in. Turn the flashlight on to illuminate your accessory tray with a soft red glow. The flashlight can easily be removed from the mount to provide red light where you need it most. The focus micrometer is a numbered scale that indicates the focuser’s position. It allows quick return to a specific focus point for specific targets such as a bird nest, infinity focus, etc.

  • Easy to use with features that the BIG scopes do ...
Style: 100AZ
Easy to use with features that the BIG scopes do not have such as highly useful removable red flashlight embedded above accessory tray. Also the scope cap doubles as smart phone holder for astrophotography. Lightweight, quality sight, crisp optics, and neat focus indicator numbers on side of scope for easy return to reference. Stable tripod configuration with locking accessory tray for added sturdiness. Nothing flimsy about the tripod. Bought exclusively for solar eclipse but already see that we will be using it for more sightings. Also, we ordered the 100AZ model which arrived in a sealed 70AZ box but opened anyway to find the 100AZ as ordered. Manufacturer hiccup maybe. Easy to align red sight with scope which we did in less than 2 minutes. Excellent value! ... show more

  • Worth the price
Style: 100AZ
This is a recent purchase, so I might adjust the score later (that's why I gave it a "4", for now). I have used it several times and found everything is working just fine. The product came well-packed and without damage. There is a problem with one of the focus adjust dials, but I think it is operator-error... maybe. Overall, however, I am pleased. If someone is looking for movie-style images of the planets, they will be disappointed. Yet, it does deliver what it claims. This is a great introductory product for Astronomy. I would recommend, as I have done, that you purchase additional lenses for more detailed viewing. As it comes, the optics are good quality and set-up is very easy. I definitely recommend this telescope. ... show more

  • 100AZ - Perfect for Terrestrial Viewing
Style: 100AZ
Exactly what I needed for life on the Bay to see dolphin and manatees up close once sited. For the price it’s great, and is made of quality material. It comes with 2 eyepiece magnifications, both pretty powerful, but could really use a 30mm to go with the 20&10mm for even faster siteing response.. Reading the reviews it appears that people are accidentally buying this for upclose planet viewing, I don’t believe this is the intent for this unit. With the wide field of view, portability, and easy set up, this one is perfect for terrestrial viewing, quickly locating sites objects. The only complaint is that although all components are made of nice material, the engineering is missing a little, for instance the telescope slide bracket doesn’t have a stop on the glide, and the two thumb screws used to hold in place are way long and dig into the bracket. This works fine but being the only weaknesses and so easily addressed, should be corrected. I still rated it 5-Stars since there is nothing like it for the way I use mine, more like a super target spotter. ... show more

  • Great basic telescope
Style: 100AZ
I bought this telescope as a gift for my kids based on a recommendation on an astronomy website. We have had a great time using it. It’s easy to set up and easy to get the hang of using.

  • Celestron, We’ll Always Have Jupiter
Style: 100AZ
This telescope is okay for beginners, but has some serious flaws: The focus knobs on mine worked at first, but then just spun on their axle. Customer support was responsive, but they wanted me to ship the telescope back. I’m very rural, so shipping something like this is a pain. I fixed the focus knobs with super glue. Mine came with no instructions on how the spotting scope worked, so sighting in is fidgety. The tripod is sturdy enough, but there’s this tray in the middle that holds the legs together. You turn the knob in the middle to loosen the 3 plates that make up the tray and fold the tripod up. I watched my daughter effortlessly break the junction where the tray attaches to the knob. She wasn’t pushing really hard, but it was apparently misaligned and ‘SNAP’. I’m a beginner and the viewing is pretty easy. Tonight (9/24/22 Central South Dakota) I saw Jupiter and 4 of its moons. I’ve never seen the moons of another planet before! This is probably goodbye as I will now shop for a better telescope. It’s just not working out, Celestron but we’ll always have Jupiter. ... show more

  • Decent little telescope. Makes a good traveler.
Style: 100AZ
Very nice telescope. Especially for the beginner. The views are large and clear for a scope this size. The short focal length makes for wider field and easy transport. This is an excellent travel scope. The tripod is very solid with a nice accessory tray. The integrated red flashlight is a handy feature. The mount is adequate but lacks fine movement controls. The reflex finder that comes with it is one of the best I’ve seen. ... show more

  • Frustrating
Style: 100AZ
Not a good telescope. It’s very difficult to center an object in the field of view because it doesn’t turn easily.

  • Not bad for an entry level
Style: 100AZ
Easy to assemble, but nearly impossible to easily move it and track things you want to see. Simple target, line up the viewfinder on the full moon. Okay. Focus, easy enough. Tighten down the screws so it will actually stay on target and the telescope shifts all over, moving well off the target. Any slight adjustments aren't possible, and I haven't managed to get the smart phone adapter to work, since there's no real way to lock down the adjustments, it's too easy to move it, even clamped way down. On top of that the legs are so shaky, anything, a slight breeze, breathe too hard, everything shakes. What makes me madder, is this scope was $100 cheaper not too long ago. All telescopes had a massive price uptick recently. At the $300 price point, no, this isn't worth it. At $150 absolutely as entry level. For $300 though, it'd rather have one with the gear adjustments vertically and horizontally, for making incremental adjustments. This one is impossible to easily get and keep on target. Small adjustments, forget it. ... show more
