  • Well built, light weight, inexpensive.
I bought this smaller truss package because I couldn't justify the weight, setup time, and cost of pro-grade truss when I am only playing "truss-sized" shows a few times a year with my band. And I have to say, this rig is perfect for the task. It hits a sweet spot between affordability and durability. I will say, this is not in the same echelon as the pro grade truss, and you shouldn't expect it to be, at this price. But it is a lot closer to pro-grade truss than other truss systems in this range. Hardware is all metal, the only real plastic parts are the sleeve guides, end caps, and tightening knobs in the stands. No plastic parts in the truss sections themselves. The parts all seem to fit well and I didn't have any trouble with assembly. My least favorite thing about this truss is how the truss sections join with a combination of tubes and clamps, all assembled using wing-nuts. The wingnut attachment system isnt as convenient or simple as the pin-locks that the pro-grade truss uses. That being said, the wing-nuts are WAY MORE convenient than the bolt-together truss that makes up most of the other choices in this class. My favorite thing about this system is how light it is. With some lightweight LEDs strapped on the truss, my entire rig weighs less than 200 lbs. Unless you have a team of linebackers as a road crew, weight is incredibly important. I love having a truss that I can put up and down without feeling like I'm going to injure my back. And while I'm on the topic, I should mention that this truss is a lot easier to put up and down with two people. It's not impossible to do alone, but I prefer setup with two. Full disclosure, I did feel as though the 15' truss was a little too narrow for a band. I bought a fourth truss section to bring my total width to 20', which seems like a really nice width to frame the band. All in all, I would call this a five star truss system, because of its value for the money. You can buy better truss, but not at this price. ... show more

  • A great setup for the price, but consider the version with crank-up stands
I bought this (LK-X15) to build out dj/event lighting for friends' weddings/parties and some non-profit activities. I had previously experimented with t-stands by another vendor, which proved to be fairly wobbly. I selected this based on past reviews, the fact that the major connections are metal, and the potential flexibility of using the stands with or without the truss. When assembled as a truss at the 7' height, it is rock solid. The metal wingnuts/throughbolting are great, but do add some complexity to the assembly. I can foresee potential issues keeping all the wingnuts/washers together; especially if you ever try to use this outside (say in the grass). My plan was initially to assemble the truss, add the lights/wire everything at ground level, and then lift the stands/truss to its final height (~11-12ft). Unfortunately, this quickly becomes a 2-3 person job to lift and secure with lights added (due to a lack of grip locations and the separation between the two stands). I'm nowhere close to the max weight identified, 330lbs evenly distributed. So far, I've set it up with up to 8 pars (~1.5lbs each), two moving heads (~8-12 lbs each), and power/dmx cables). I don't really want to have to pack around a ladder to hang everything at the max height. In retrospect, this was foreseeable. The manufacturer does offer a version with crank-up stands (LK-XC15); if you can afford it, that is the way to go. The cross bars and truss are both 1.5" and there are regular bolt holes/positions for hanging lights. I prefer wrap-around metal clamps that allow for faster assembly and more percise placement. These can be a little difficult to find regularly for 1.5" tubing on Amazon, I had success with these: B07QW5BQGY (copy/paste into search). I'd like to see some more cable management options integrated into truss systems, but custom cut strips of black 1" velcro work well for the time being. ... show more

  • Great Value
Item arrived well before scheduled date. Packaging was damaged but product was not. Product looked great, no damage and one small scratch, but very pleased. Product set up was very easy and comes with a great deal of hardware to mount things to the truss. I would recommend to buy truss clamps because some of my lights have two mounting clamps and not all matched up to the holes on the truss (which has to be expected). The stands have two telescoping rods and one of the rods was missing the first three holes, so I matched the distance from the rod of the other stand and then drilled the holes myself, only took 15 minutes. That could be a major issue, but was not for me and now everything is good. The stands are very solid and have some weight to them for sturdiness. Definitely a two person job when mounting the truss to the stands. Once set up, the rig is very solid and sturdy and looks amazing. Hard to believe the quality for the price of this. This is the first one I have ever purchased, but I did a lot of research and am very glad I went with this system. ... show more

  • Solid well made truss with one exception.
This is a very sturdy truss made from steel, no plastic. I play in a local band and set up lights and PA weekly and only have one minor change I made to it. It is not easy to connect the truss to the stands with lights attached. It was difficult to hold while inserting the bolts thru. I in attached a 1 1/2' PVC piece so that it just slides on over the stand pole. Two people can now easily lift the truss with our 8 lights attached and set it on the stands. We also tried laying the stands and truss down and assembling it, but found this to be easy and fast. I would buy this again but wish they would find a way to make it simpler to erect. ... show more
