I bought this for my son on his eight birthday. We played it all day and he was thrilled with it. I had a slot car race set when I was a kid, a nice one, and this one is much, much better. The cars got better after using them for an hour or so. I think they had kind of a break in period. They began to hug the track even better than at the start. It has a neat feature on the hand control, it's a removable clip that acts as a governor. When the clip is on it keeps max speed to 70% which is still fast. With the clip in I found I still had to slow down for curves. With the clip out the car is really fast and it requires more skill to race well and remain on the track. But whether the clip is in or out there is the turbo boost button which is so much fun, works very well, and makes the cars just fly. But yet, you can still maintain control with proper bursts of turbo at the right moments. The cars will fly off the track if you give it too much speed but that is a big part of the fun. We laughed often when we'd crash at the intersection or fly off the track. Also the looped track (we always called it loopty-loop) works great. The banked curve works great. Both require additional skill but not too much for an 8 year old. I'm very impressed with the fit and finish. Assembly is easy. Track pieces fit tightly together. Nothing slips apart or moves around while racing. I'm impressed with this toy. I'm planning to buy extension components for Christmas gifts. ... show more

I’m a 57 year old and purchased to play with my grandkids (or maybe just an excuse). I’ve owned AfX and Tyco growing up and loved it. I was very impressed with this for the price and will continue to build. The only negatives are that the cars are very limited (if you want to add more) and are very light/flimsy, however they run great and the turbo boost makes it so much more fun. Definitely recommend and wish the company would add more cars into the 1:43 scale. I did purchase the Mustang separately and did not run anywhere near the one’s it came with. It also stopped running within 30 min and had to return. Lastly, it is definitely worth it. ... show more

This DTM Master Class track is my second Carrera set. The first one was Victory Lane, which I liked better. I am no expert but not a beginner either. Loved them as a kid and now wanted to play with my kids. Things to consider with this one: If you or your kids, especially impatient ones, are new to slot car racing you might want to get a different track to start. This one requires more precise control of the controller or else the cars will fly off the track, especcially if you use Turbo mode which I could only use very briefly on the loops. The end where it goes up about 60 degreees I found to be the most frustrating part with trying to keep the correct speed, most of the time it did not make it around that curve. I gave up with this track and connected many pieces of this track to my Victory Lane set and made a longer, less technical track where I can use Turbo more. My kids also like it a lot more since they do not have much patience and they did not last 5 minutes with this set as is. In summary, if you want a track where more precision with the controller is required, this is good. Anybody else, get a different set. ... show more

This slot car set brought me back 50 years to when I use to race 1/24 scale cars on a 75' full size track. This series is a smaller version built similat to it's 1/24 scale big brother. The 1/32 cars run equivalent to over 300 mph and are really fast! I recommend Carrera sets for adulthood child like all out ACTION! ... show more

This thing is junk!! I really wanted it to work for my 9 year old son, but it really sucks. It’s not worth the money!!We purchased this about 6 weeks ago and it doesn’t work. It worked great right out of the box, but now, 6 weeks later we decided to take it back out to play with it and nothing works - the cars don’t go around the track and we can’t return it as it is now passed the return date, so we’re stuck with a piece of junk that doesn’t work.
