  • Portable, Stylish Option Perfect for Journaling
I love looking back on my journal entries, but as I've gotten busier, journaling falls to the wayside. I had planned on buying a calendar and just jotting down notes on each day's square, when I happened upon these One Line a Day books. They're a much more user-friendly and stylish solution. I first saw the original blue-covered version, but was a little hesitant when I saw how the edges of the covers faded after years of wear and tear. I'm careful with my things, and don't mind the looks of it, but wanted to make sure the journal would be preserved. Then I saw this version, which features a canvas cover–something that I think may prove to be a little hardier. I also just loved the looks of it, and would feel happy to carry it around or leave it out on my coffee table or nightstand. The journal is exactly as pictured in the description, with a canvas cover, thick black lettering, and 6 lines of space to write per date (counting the bottom/dividing line). It has a section for important dates to remember at the back, and a nice black ribbon to mark your page. The page edges are a dark silver color, reminiscent of what you get when you color really hard with a no.2 pencil. I write small, so I have enough space to fit what I'd like to say under each day's section. I also think it takes the pressure off cataloguing everything that's happened in the day, instead allowing you the opportunity to write what you felt was truly special about each day. All in all, I love the journal and would l likely purchase more to gift to friends and family members. ... show more

  • Elegant and easy to write in
While smaller I was expecting initially, it's actually a really good sized diary. Small enough to fit into a suitcase or bag but still allows you to write a sentence or two each day. I like that it is set up for a comparative look (i.e. rather than the layout being all the dates in year 1, then all dates in year 2, etc.; it has room to write what happens on day xx of year 1-5 all on one page, meaning you can look at 5 years of what happened on the same date). It has a nice fabric cover and the pages are quality paper. I would absolutely consider purchasing again. ... show more

  • Unbeatable at this price point
Before I stumbled on this journal, I wasn't familiar with the multi-year journal format, and it really appeals to me in a way that other daily journaling doesn't. Having only a few lines per day to fill, along with the ability to compare days of the year across a five-year period, is making it extremely likely that I'll actually keep up with this style of journal where I've failed with, uh, literally every other daily journaling attempt in my life. Some people have complained about the size of the journal, but I don't know what they were expecting. The listing clearly describes the dimensions (cover is 4" x 6 1/2"; pages are about 3 5/8" x 6 1/8"), and the entire point is to make a very short entry every day. If you need more space, just... buy a normal journal? For the USD $15ish price, the quality is also excellent. The binding feels sturdy, and it being stitched means there's basically no chance of individual pages falling out. The pages open comfortably, especially after properly breaking in the binding (which is a technique you should google if you're not used to hardbacks). The cloth cover has a nice feel, though it may develop a tendency to attract and retain dust and pet hair. The paper is thick and takes ink well; I've posted photos of tests for three different fountain pens and inks, and you can see that there's minimal feathering or bleeding and practically no ghosting. (The photo with the test writing on February 14 is pretty color-accurate; the February 15 photo showing the backside of the test page is lighter/whiter than in person.) I also have had zero need to use a blotter; everything dried/absorbed just in the time it took to write each day's entry and close the cover again. I ended up discovering the Midori 5 Year Diary after I'd been using this one for over a month, and while I've decided I prefer the Midori enough to justify the significant price jump, I'm extremely bummed I'd already written in this One Line a Day journal so much, because it's a shame that I can't pass it on to someone else. (For anybody else trying to decide between the two, note that the Midori diary has shown zero bleeding or feathering, but there IS extremely visible ghosting—particularly with darker inks—so if that's a nonstarter for you, you'll want to avoid it. Writing space for is comparable between the One Line a Day journal and the Midori 5 Year diary—all my OlaD entries transferred to my new Midori journal—but watch out for the Mini version of the latter, which is smaller. Other features are easy to compare online.) ... show more

  • SMALL
Okay watch out and make sure you look at the size!! This is way smaller than expected but it was my fault. Cute and nice pages.

  • Buying my second journal after 5 years!
The media could not be loaded. I started my first “one line a day” journal in January 2020. I have just ordered my second one to have it ready to go in January 2025. I have never been successful with traditional journaling and have loved this format! It is on my nightstand and easy to write a few lines before bed each night. It is really fun to look back at what happened on this date over the years as well - fun to remember simple things that I otherwise would have forgotten. The book had held up really well, even with five years of daily use. I’m buying the same one for my second journal because I’ve been so pleased with this one. ... show more

  • You will love yourself for this
I pushed back on the idea of writing one memory a day down in a book when I started but now I am so so glad I did. Just writing down what you did that day brings back so many memories when you look back or write another memory down the next year. This book is a manageable and fun way to record things that you want to remember or that made you laugh or that surprised you. And it is so fun to look back and reminisce with the people that you did those things with. I would recommend this for parents who only have a short time to write something down and can’t commit to large memory books for kids or for themselves ... show more
