I'm a budding plant enthusiast, so not overly familiar with the in-depth science behind soil composition for plants just yet. From my experience handling this soil so far, there is a good mixture of large and small substrates to allow for drainage while still providing a firm base to compact around and support roots. I find that using a mister or spray bottle to dampen the soil will retain that moisture for a few hours, but does need checking throughout the day as it can dry out quickly. Other watering methods may vary. I'm only one week into germinating basil with this potting mix, but I'm already seeing multiple sprouts in each pot. It claims to be pre-fertilized with a 3-month supply of plant food. We'll see how my plants hold up. ... show more

The soil seems fine however, the bag is poorly designed. The miniscule grooves are impossible to align and seal again. It's not a big deal if you use up the bag in one go, but it's kind of annoying if you have to store it.
