Do not buy this reel its is absolutely junk I had the drag and brake as tight as they can go with 80 lbs mono line with 3oz on it and it would back lash every single time even if I didn’t throw it hard at all waste of money

This reel is nice and smooth, performs well and works well on offshore fishing, on the first outing we caught quite a few fish with it. The only complaint I have with this reel is the reel knob itself. The knob is very well made out of aluminum, appears to be milled, it is very well balanced and the bearings allow for a really smooth and free operation without any mechanical resistance whatsoever however, the problem with the design is that the two halves of the knob separate very easily, the cover half was almost lost numerous times during the outing. For me the solution was easy, I applied some thread-lock to the threads of the halved knob and so far it appears to work fine. I am a little worried that eventually I’ll need to separate the two halves for maintenance and might need to use pliers to grip part of it and possibly ruin it or mar it up. So far I really like the reel and just wish there could be some kind of slight design change of the knob. The knob is the only reason I didn’t give five stars. ... show more

I've only used this a couple of times and it has worked great. The drag works well and it retrieves the line fairly fast (6:1 ratio). I have to keep my thumb on the spool if I plan to send the line out away from the boat (not a casting reel), but for trolling it works great!

This reel was a 50/50 for me considering the reviews but I said might as well It arrived perfect conditioned checked all the screws like other reviews mentioned all good it was greased up very smooth and although some say it’s not good at casting it’s amazing for me don’t have the tension knob to loose or you will bird eat pretty easily a 3 ounce weight gets me 50 yards out and when trolling be careful the handle has a tenancy of vibrating off other than that great reel brought in decent sized snook, blue fish etc would definitely recommend. ... show more
