These days it's often difficult to tell if there's really a difference between a well known brand and what is perhaps considered an off brand. Is the item a decent copy of a better item or are they actually made in the same manufacturing facility and labeled differently? I know for a fact that in the automotive aftermarket parts industry that there are "off brand" so called white label components such as crankshafts and connecting rods that actually originate from the same plant as much more expensive branded lines and in most ways they are virtually the same other than the price point. Is that the case here? I honestly don't know but I will say that you could easily put this next to a more expensive popular brand breaker and not be able to tell the difference unless maybe you opened it up. (And maybe not even then.) The overall case design is nice and precise, it doesn't feel or seem cheap or sub standard in any way and seems to be well sealed. The studs/terminals are good quality and the leaver moves with precision and positively engages and disengages the internal contacts. (I verified complete connect and disconnect with a meter.) Someone else mentioned that there's no protective covers for the terminals and that is an accurate statement and something that needs to be considered during installation. Is it a downfall or issue? Not really, plenty of batteries out there don't have terminal covers and aren't an issue on cars, trucks, boats, equipment. You'll simply need to be aware and adjust accordingly or install your own covers which are easily sourced. In fact, the boot style that go on the cable are a better option anyway because they won't fall off or get knocked off. Overall - Good product ... show more

Low voltage, high amperage circuit breakers are something many overlook when building a camper, boat and more. We built a vintage camper with modern electrics and this is our first line of defense should an issue arise. This is an easy device to operate and is also quite easy to install. I really like that way it can be shut off shutting down the entire system. Turning it back on is just as easy. Just swing the yellow lever to the on or off position. We had one of the "push the red button" types and found that, over time, it tended to stick and would not always shut off when the button was pushed. This is a 12 to 48 bolt unit and is rated at 150 amps. Meaning that if the system should reach 150 amps it will automatically shut off the system as a protective device. Once the condition has been rectified you just reset it with the lever and it is back in service. There are 3 mounting holes and an air gap on the underside for cooling. 2 studs for running the battery cable through the breaker. It is waterproof and they say, Ignition protected. For what that might mean or be worth. The unit is so designed that it cannot be held in the on position if the overload/short circuit still exists. This is great for boats, vans, campers, custom designs and more. As a retired automotive electrical specialist I am impressed with the design and operation of this simple device. ... show more

I'm using this breaker with the DC powered air conditioner in my van. I already have a fuse on the power line but wanted to add this breaker as an additional measure, and because it allows the ability to turn the power off to the air conditioner during the off season and when it needs to be worked on. So far it is performing as expected with no issues. The breaker appears well made, with everything looking sharp and clean. The name brand version is quite a bit more expensive, so if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, this may be the route to go! My only concern, and it would be the same with the name brand version, is that there is no cover for the terminals, so I will probably cover them with a layer of wide electrical tape, just because the breaker is in an area that is not covered when my back door is open. ... show more

    • Great to protect wiring and battery when installing a winch

I installed an 10K winch in the front of my trailer to be able to pull in cars and items that had no self propulsion. The winch did not come with a breaker, and I needed something that would handle the high peak amperage of the winch, yet open if the winch or wiring would short before melting the cables or damaging my battery. This also has the capability of being disconnected/turned off manually in case the winch control sticks in the on position. This was easy to install in series with the winch cable, and is waterproof so I don't need to worry about it getting wet. I did mount it as high as possible, because the waterproof rating does not mean it will withstand full submersion. ... show more
