I think the last set I bought a few years ago were made with durable plastic. This is made with the hard breakable plastic. So if they get dropped on concrete, they will probably shatter into shards. Still, it has a bearing spinner piece in the center of each unit, which wasn’t on the original one I had. So these are more fun to play with. People complain about the magnet strength. I thing it’s pretty strong. The problem is, if we had super strong magnets, these would cost much more. And if the plastic was much more durable, the magnets wouldn’t be able to match the weight of the plastic, and would have a weaker bond. So it’s really about balance. Balancing the magnet strength with the plastic weight, balancing the cost of the item with the kids who would get distracted after playing with it for five minutes (I’ve been playing with them all night and I’m 60). I don’t know what to say about the pattern wearing off. It hasn’t happened to me yet, but I just got them today. I did read that you can paint that clear waterproofing stuff over the items, but I think I would end up leaking it all through the bearings. So I’ll take my chances. Maybe use nail polish if I have to. Do I recommend them? At $4 a package like I paid, I think they’re worth it. I bought 4 packages, and 10 linked together in a big wheel is quite fun to spin on my finger. So, yes. These are a fun fidget item to play with, if you aren’t in church or a funeral. I have the tendency to sit there and spin my AirPods (in a case with the carabiner) around my finger and have broken one or two cases doing so. So I got these to help that, I haven’t had them before and I’m pretty satisfied I only just got them so I’m not to sure how long till the design wears off or they start to break. You can’t really spin all three around that well unless there in a triangle cause they will fall but what u can and the clanking and the sounds of the barings are pretty nice to my neurodivergent brain. They do work pretty well if u stack them up on ur finger and spin it like that which is nice, we’ll see about the durability. So far I love them and would recommend them. ... show more
