Description

Bully Black Bull Aluminum Side Step ensures safe and convenient entry and exit into a truck or SUV. It is a practical and budget friendly upgrade for vehicles. For most truck and SUV owners, adding a side step is often their first modification for their truck and/or SUV. The side step is constructed from single-piece aluminum cast which is corrosion resistant, hence prolonging the life span and durability of the side steps. The frame is lightweight yet durable and does not add unnecessary load to the vehicle. It has matte finish that creates a universal appeal and provides a non-slip stepping surface. Textured and extra deep, this step can be attached to a wide range of sports trucks and SUVs by Chevrolet, Dodge RAM, Ford, GMC and Toyota.

  • Pretty solid steps but they come with some complications.
Color: BLACK Size: SET OF 2 Style: 5002 SERIES
I purchased these for my 2018 Chevy Silverado K1500 Custom. They came in good shape and on time. They look smooth and had zero chips in the powder coat. I just put on the two driver side ones today. They are not as easy of an install as one may think. I used the D instructions. Like other said, you will have to buy some hardware. I purchased the following for my two sets: Self tapping sheet metal screws x 8 1 1/4" - 3/8" Grade 8 bolts and nuts x 8 3/8" - Grade 8 lock washers x 16 3/8" metal drill bit x 1 1/8" metal drill bit x 1 The 3/8th nuts were too large for the step bolt holes so I had to first redrill out the mounting holes on all of the steps. I then took a piece of cardboard to make a template for the bolt holes using the new holes in the steps. I put the carboard under the truck and marked my holes with a sharpie. I then drilled pilot holes using the 1/8" drill bit going in at an angle from the outside of the truck into the center. Then I drilled out the holes with the 3/8" bit. Popped a washer on each bolt and stuck them through and mounted the step. I then popped on another washer and the nut and tightened them down. For the tapping screws, the front step connected right in but the back steps require using the black plastic shims to fill the gaps. Without the shims you won't be able to tap the metal and this creates filled space so the step doesn't move when stepped on. I may go back and try to ahim the front ones as well, we'll see later on. They go on in about 30 minutes for two without problems. Tips: 1: If you don't drill in at an angle you'll have a hell of a time getting the bolts in just right. 2: Use the shims to fill gaps for the tap screws. 3: Have someone else watching while to draw on the holes to drill to make sure the steps are in a logical location. All-in-all I think these steps look sweet and they are super functional and hold my 6'0 280# body just fine. In regards to the chipping. I got some 400 grit sandpaper, some adhesion spray, primer spray and an enamel black spray paint to fix them if they start to chip like others say. I'll post back here when/if that happens. Today (7/23/22) is the first day having them on. ... show more

  • Installed on 2008 F150
Color: BLACK Size: SET OF 4 Style: 5002 SERIES
LOOKS/DESIGN: These are by far one of the best looking steps I’ve seen available. While the vast majority are rounded and curvy, these are angular and full of sharp creases and angles. This makes them much more aggressive and “tough” looking. Add the nice logo and the textured black finish and you have one very handsome set of steps. The texture on the foothold has tons of grip, so I don’t foresee any issues with slipping while trying to climb into the truck. Overall, a solid 5/5 for looks. QUALITY/DURABILITY: I hesitate to say anything too definite about durability and overall quality just yet since the steps were just put on a day ago. I also can’t say anything about the included hardware because I decided not to use any of it after reading many reviews about the screws and bolts shearing off. I just went ahead and ordered grade 8 hardware right off the bat so I didn’t have to worry about it. However I did notice a couple things about the steps during the installation process that concerned me. First off, I question the long term durability of the paint. It seemed to scuff up very easily and chipped right off where I accidentally bumped two of the steps against each other lightly. It appears to be very thin, and I fully expect to have to repaint these steps within the next couple years if they last that long, which brings me to my other concern. Initially the steps felt very heavy duty and substantial. When I drilled into them though, I was surprised at how easily the drill got through the aluminum. I know aluminum is soft, but it seemed like it was just a bit too easy to drill through the steps. Also, when I bumped those two steps together like I mentioned earlier, the aluminum dented very easily. These two things made me think that the aluminum used may not be the best quality. However, with all that being said, the steps haven’t actually shown any signs of breaking or being poorly made. I jumped on each one after installing them and they only flexed slightly. I am 260 pounds, so that’s pretty impressive if you ask me. Being as heavy as I am though, I can’t help but wonder if I’ll go to get in the truck one day and have a step snap. Only time will tell. Overall, I’d give a 3.5/5 for quality at this time since it hasn’t been long enough to know anything for sure. INSTALLATION: This is from my experience installing the steps on a 2008 Ford F150. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy these if you’re looking for an easy project. If you’re not a handy person, I would recommend getting something else that’s made specifically for your vehicle. With the steps being universal, I expected to have some work to do to get them installed properly. What I didn’t realize is just how tough it would be. The first step took me about 4 hours to figure out how to best install it. Each of the others took about 45 minutes each after figuring everything out. You’ll have to drill into your vehicle’s frame, and most likely the steps as well. I even had to cut parts of my frame away to make room for the steps to seat against the frame correctly. It’s also nearly impossible to get a full size drill with full size drill bits into the spaces where you need to drill the holes. Having a shorter hammer drill with stubby bits would be ideal. Overall, I’d give the install a 2/5 simply because of the difficulty of the process. It’s not the fault of the steps, either. In fact, I think they are very well designed for fitting a wide range of vehicles. It’s obvious that they put a lot of time into making sure these were indeed universal. But because of this, these and any other universal steps are going to be very difficult to install. Tips For Installing on 2004-2008 F150: Here are some tips for anybody putting these on a 2004-2008 F150. This may help other people too if your frame is the same. 1. Use the factory running board mounting holes to your advantage. These are the holes drilled in the pinch-welded lip at the very bottom of the frame. I used one factory hole per step so I only had to drill one myself. This also made sure that both front and both rear steps were in the the same location relative to each other on each side of the truck. 2. Cut a notch in the pinch weld where the mounting plates of the steps are going to sit(circled in fourth picture). If you don’t, the mounting plates of the steps won’t sit flush against the frame. You’ll need a metal cutoff wheel for this. CONCLUSION: All things considered, I think these are great steps for the money. Once you get past the difficult installation process, they really do look great and save you a lot of money over something made specifically for your vehicle. Time will tell if they hold up well or not, but for now I am pleased. They beat the heck out of the factory Ford running boards for sure. ... show more

  • work well, look good on my Ram 2500, but. . .
Color: Silver Size: Set of 2 steps Style: 5002 SERIES
They are very sturdy and there is no flex in the mounting. However, the cab on the Ram boxes the rocker panel. So the steps are pretty far back from the edge of the door sill. Getting in isn't a problem. You have to be a little deliberate getting out to make sure you are putting your foot in the stirrup. It isn't ideal but I like the look of the steps not really extending past the cab. And for me, they function fine.and it all seems reasonable for what is really a universal product. Obviously I need to do some rust management. I also bought new stainless steel hardware. They send a ton of hardware that I really didn't need. And I'm pretty sure the zinc coated nuts and bolts won't make it past the first winter with all the salt we use in MA. I did need to bend the lip on the bottom of the rocker so it would bolt up. I also had to drill the second hole in the bracket for that bolt. Overall, installation was reasonable for a Universal product, but it isn't a direct fit. ... show more

  • Needs better hardware, but sturdy.
Color: BLACK Size: SET OF 2 Style: 5002 SERIES
Installed them on a 2022 ram 2500 crew cab. Instructions weren't great, but once I found the longest bolts and longest spacer sleeves, it made sense. I had to straighten the pinch weld on the rocker panels a bit, then they went right on. I took 1 star away because one of the cheap bolts stripped, I replaced them all with stainless 5/16 bolts and feel much better about it. They are super sturdy. ... show more

Works well. Solid step it is just too far under the truck when mounted, wanted it to stick out more. Shin hits the rocker panel when using to step in
