  • It works
I like it so far but I don’t like removing fuses every time I want to upload a tune or detune my truck but besides that it works

  • Woke the truck up! Make sure to read everything thoroughly!
I installed this in a 2017 Tundra TRD Pro. I bought a flowmaster outlaw catback exhaust system and it woke the truck up but the gas mileage went down to 13-14mpg on average. I immediately went on bullydog's website and downloaded the update agent. Then went and downloaded the latest tunes for my truck and transferred it to the sdcard. I hooked a battery charger up to the truck as it specified, and then began the tuning process. After it saved the factory tune to the sdcard I chose two different twos to customize. First I did the one that I included in the screenshot with premium power, unlimited speed limiter, stock shift points, and performance throttle response. I also did a regular power level tune but didn't install that one. After creating the two tunes I had to plug the sdcard back into the computer again and do a final update. Then I plugged it back into the tuner and flashed the truck with the tune, and followed the instructions. This thing really woke the truck up! I went to my gfs moms and was on the highway and infiniti tried to pass me on the right lane. I stomped the gas and dusted him and my gf was amazed at how fast the truck moves now! Also the mpg improved, I am getting 15-16mpg on the highway now even with the occasional lead foot! I set the gauges to throttle, battery voltage, trans temp and coolant temp. I highly suggest you to read the manual thoroughly so you don't have to call tech support! For the ignition on/off I tapped into the fuse holder I already had for the lights on my grille. ... show more

  • Tons of promise, Pounds of expectation, grams of delivery if any (actually none)
I read reviews on this and probably 10 other sites claiming mileage improvement and or horsepower gains. I installed this in conjunction with a K&N air kit hoping to take advantage of the combination for maximum results. The first issue was the Micro SD card was defective and had to be replaced. I didn’t want to wait for them to mail one so I searched high and low to find one that would meet their specs, to no avail. USPS here we come. They mailed one in short order but not until the weekend was over as their tech support is all but unreachable on the weekends, when shade tree guys like me have the time to do these sort of things. The “couple hours” install ended up being a week plus waiting. Then they sent the codes, but they are for the previous model year…I was told, that’s okay, it will work…the ominous warning on the little hard to read screen foretells of doom should the install go wrong. No pressure. Finally get it installed, download the tune nervously turn the key and…ignition! No yellow lights, no strange noises. All appears well. Test drive time. Now months into ownership, various driving conditions, fuel suppliers, weather conditions and thousands of miles (about 5,000 or so) and no improvement in mileage, no noticeable power increase (although the promised numbers are low enough, not sure anyone’s “seat of the pants dyno” could tell anyway). Now I have a several hundred dollar annoying chirp that tells me when I brake too hard, accelerate too hard, and sometimes chirps for no reason, sitting on my console. As far as I can tell it has improved my gas mileage by reducing the weight of the cash in my wallet, but certainly not electronically. So now I will disconnect it, place it neatly in a box on the shelf in my garage, and eventually forget it is there until it finds a new home in the waste bin. The upside is, I can theoretically adjust how long my lights stay on when the truck is off (I think). Update: As of one week after removing the tuner my fuel mileage has gone up! Not by a bunch, 0.5 mpg, but still has gone up so now I am back to 16.5 mpg on average and I don't have to listen to the chirping anymore. Another up side, I got my cupholder space back in the console... One last update: Mileage is up a full 2 MPG after removing the unit and running through three tanks of gas with mixed driving. Now I just need to recover the space on my shelf in the garage where it sits. ... show more

  • Product work as advertised
Could not actually change from fuel economy to towing, or sport package. Cannot download custom tunes It did improve the fuel mileage greatly though.

  • 06 f150 5.4 bullydog
I read many reviews over the the course of a few months. I looked for good and bad and tried to average them out. But I couldn't really do that for my vehicle. So I hit up the forums. Everyone slammed the bdgt. Both for service and product. So I guess I'll have to say they were wrong. I installed this thing and before hand called bully dog and spoke to a tech who emailed me immediately back for my questions during the install. She sent me new software patches and told me the best way to install it. It was stupid easy. I was just nervous. I mean it does have the potential to brick your truck. After install on premium which calls for premium fuel I noticed the truck sounded different. My truck was quiet but now it has a sound. Tough too. Not crazy but noticeable to me. Then I drove it. It's not a large increase but if you drive a 5.4 triton and ever tried to pass and wondered if you'd make it you'll be happy with this. This thing made my truck kick down and go when passing. You can tell off a stop that the pedal is quite a bit more responsive but it's not like you're going to rear end someone. You can dart into traffic with it now though. I will post on fuel Econ as I see it but I have to say I was surprised at the hp I gained. All the other people posting about f150's and tuners preach about edge or some guy named mike at 5 star that can make your dreams come true. I had to try this just because I got tired of hearing about mike. Any way 06 f150 5.4 triton super crew lariat with 129000 miles day one install went down great. Also it's a truck people. Not a race car. Don't expect to much. I'll keep you posted. Oh yeah bd service was great. UPDATE 8/5/15 Still going strong. Getting 19-21 mpg now and have had zero issues with it. I did blow out my fuse for the obdII with my cig lighter and caused the BDGT to not function properly and lost my gas mileage for a minute but I called BD and they told me what it was and I was back in business quick. Truck still sounds really nice and to this day I still enjoy the sound of a cold start. Also reprogrammed my truck a few different times and had no issues. ... show more
