  • PERFECT SOLUTION - Trolling motors are known for lack of steering especially when the wind picks up, the water is choppy or you want to track in a straight line. Simply add a Bullnose Rudder which is designed to give you better control of your watercraft in most windy conditions, help hold a true course at most trolling speeds, and prevent the boat from spinning as much when the motor is off. Patent no. D712,341S
  • FIT - The Bullnose Rudder is a boat rudder that fits 1 1/8" (1.125") transom mount trolling motors. Please note, it will NOT work on a self deploy bow mount trolling motor. It measures 10.5" high x 4.75" wide and fits a 1 1/8" shaft diameter. It's most commonly used for "but not limited to" minn kota trolling motor, motorguide trolling motors, newport vessel trolling motor, etc. Common tiny boats used are, inflatable pontoon, Pelican Bass Raider 10E, fishing kayak, canoes, jon boats, and more.
  • ESSENTIAL - In most cases it helps hold a true course at both a slow and high trolling speeds. Customers have also said, it prevents the boat from spinning as much when the motor is off. Most tiny boats will benefit from having some kind of a rudder set up in the back vs not having a rudder at all. Only takes a few minutes to install and you are ready to go.
  • QUALITY - Manufactured in the USA with high quality parts & material to help ensure you have a stress-free fishing experience. It is manufactured from impact plastic for durability and comes with stainless steel screws. It is built strong so you don't have to worry about it coming loose, allowing you to focus more on fishing. Patent no. D712,341S
  • BOW MOUNT - Fits the Minn Kota, EDGE, MAXXUM, and FORTREX. The bow mount motor must be a hand cable pull, NOT self deploy. Self deploy will not work because the system requires the shaft to slide up and down right where the rudder needs to be attached. However, a hand cable pull will allow you to carefully bring the motor up out of the water on the motor mount. Your bow mount setup needs to have 1' of shaft sticking out from the end of the platform allowing enough space to attach the rudder.

  • Works well on my Minn Kota Traxxis 55 trolling motor
I use this rudder on my Minn Kota Traxxis 55 trolling motor, mounted on the transom of my 12 foot Jon boat. I definitely notice improved precision in the steering ability with this rudder addition. Especially with the flat bottom on the Jon boat, the overall improved steering is very noticeable. I use my boat to fish small lakes for bass so positioning the boat to fish specific areas is important to me. Even when the motor is not under power and I'm just coasting a little bit, the rudder helps provide some steering which is nice. Without the rudder I noticed I would have to make much larger turning motions with the tiller handle and I would have to use more power to get the desired steering response. I've had no issues with the rudder coming loose at all. It is very easy to install and adds virtually no weight to the motor. Even when motoring through thick grass and lily pads this rudder is solid. This was well worth the money to me. ... show more

  • Easy Installation - Well Made Product.
The rudder installed in minutes and had a firm grip on the motor shaft. I had to cut off the top 2" of the rudder with fine hacksaw blade. This cut was just above the top clamp. This permitted me to raise the motor to my ideal height. Be advised that I am using trolling motor on a 17ft canoe and run the motor closer to the motor mount than most applications would. This modification went very smoothly. I sanded the cut with sandpaper to break the sharp edge. The results are ideal for the canoe. The canoe tracking and handling under power are greatly improved. ... show more

  • Must have for side mounted trolling motor
I added a side trolling motor to my Kayak, I knew it wasn't an optimal placement but seen other people do it so I gave it a try. It was terrible, tracking was lopsided, turns were dangerous, and could only turn left and not right, I had put a time and money adding the mount and was going to end up spending more to make this work but somehow ended up finding this simple yet awesome attachment rudder. Was very quick and easy to install, did add some extra tape since the rod on my watersnake 24lbs was on the thinner side, also had to flip the rudder upside down. Once on the water it completely tamed the trolling motor. Was tracking straight, turns were smooth and was actually able to turn right which was impossible before and left with ease. This saved me a lot of headache, time and money also had a blast at the lake finally. Best $30 i've ever spent. ... show more

  • Kayak with only motor drifted aimlessly.
I would give it five stars, but I haven’t had it in the water yet. Installation was great. I put it on a Newport NK 180 Pro, and the clips fit perfectly. I trimmed a little off the corner (small end) of the rudder, and it mated right up to the motor. This install on my kayak is still in the trial-and-error phase, so I am still getting it all dialed in. I had the motor mounted too shallow. I was getting some cavitation, especially in reverse. I had to move the motor deeper to install the rudder, so that worked out fine. Now I’m waiting for the weather to warm back up so I can go back and try it all out. Before the NK 180 Pro install, I had a rudder on the back of my kayak. When the motor wasn’t running, I had no control over how my kayak drifted. Hopefully, now I will be able to control my drift as before. ... show more

  • Beautifully responsive, ultra-stable.
Has to be great for a bass boat stroller but I've graduated to large pond/small lake fishing with my old dog partner along, I use a Colorado style single-person pontoon boat with a 30 lb. thrust trolling motor. At first, I simply used prop direction for steering - not recommended. So, a wooden rudder was constructed that was a significant steering improvement. However, a couple trips finding submerged stumps to bump as well as dragging raised bottoms, algal mat with aquatic flora collections and, well, endurance along with retaining stability became an issue. I came across this "Bullnose" rudder: nicely priced, seriously solid, easily adjusted on the drive-shaft. Was fun to take it from the box, easily mounted. Performance: the boat steered markedly better both in distance runs (requiring only a few "nudges" on the troller for course corrections) to working through cover-rich areas with nice direction control. I quickly came to trust the "Bullnose" model to deliver. I highly recommend this trolling motor addendum. Tight lines, Daryl ... show more

  • It does work very well, also cost me a trolling motor lol
Great product and it does make a difference, just realize if you use a transom mount trolling motor on a smaller boat, this will stop you from brining the trolling motor up as far as you could before installing it. The back of my boat only has a 5 inches from the waterline with a 2" draft. So because it was still skimming the water and I was jumping waves at 25mph the skimming motor eventually bite the water enough to take the entire trolling motor into the lake and with a quick disconnect, it was gone forever lol. Sucks but it's not this products fault. Just wanted to give you a heads up if you have a smaller boat but it does work great. ... show more

  • Stay the course!
Impressive and easy, left me wondering why this wasn't offered as an option when I purchased my Minn Kota... an easy attachment that gives real steering control when trolling without excessive adjustments or cavitation. Allows me to run my 18' Canoe in a straight course without the 'prop wander' that I used to have and seems to aid when running in the wind as well since it seems to have directed my propulsion thrust where it should have always been... serves its function like the Weed Guard I added... Hard to describe beyond that, but it works! ... show more

  • Bullnose clamp on rudder for electric motors
I use an electric trolling motor on a small aluminum fishing boat, on small lakes. The Bullnose clamp-on rudder was very easy to install on the trolling motor.. It makes the electric trolling motor more responsive to steering. This is a big advantage in the wind or maneuvering in tight spots - like docking. It helps keep a straighter path while just cruising. Overall, it seems to make the motor more efficient. And, the battery seems to have more charge left at the end of the day. ... Now, if I could just figure out how to put one of these on the Mercruiser inboard-outboard drive on the bowrider, maybe it would eliminate the wandering at idle speeds. :) ... show more
