  • Just got it installed but happy with it so far.
My kids are always going in and out and leaving the front door unlocked because they don't want to have to deal with the key. Our old deadbolt was kinda stubborn too so I finally decided to modernize with a smart electronic lock. There are fancier ones out there with fingerprint censors but the keypad was fine for me. I am also running Amazon's Eero wireless switches in the house which have a build in Zigbee hub so I could integrate the door lock with Alexa. Installation was not too bad. Issues were mainly with the door itself and not the lock so it probably took me 3 times longer than it should have. I read through the instructions a few times beforehand and used them as a guide as I installed it. The assembly seems to be of good quality and hopefully it will last. It does come with 4 long life batteries and I imagine when its time to replace them I'd also want to replace them with the higher end extended life batteries as well so they don't have to be changed as often. Time will tell. One reviewer gave it a negative review because she thought you have to take the three screws out and remove the inside cover to change the batteries. If you remove a small safety screw on the backside of the black cover it allows you to pull it off to swap the batteries without having to pull the whole front cover on. If you do this it does give access to the programming button but I'm not too worried about people in the house messing with it. Integration with my Eero/Zigbee hubs was very easy. I went in to Alexa and told it I wanted to add a device. Then hit the A button inside the lock 4 times and a few seconds later it was paired. By default you can only lock the door and check the status but there is a slider which allows you to be able to remote unlock as well. This is just added security incase somebody got ahold of your phone and screamed through a open window for Alexa to unlock the door. If you do tell it to allow voice unlocks using Alexa you have to give it a 4 digit pin code it will ask you for. Added security. I did turn off the default beeping the unit makes. It was kinda loud and when my son comes home from work at night I know it would wake me up but that was a simple dip switch. So in summary 1 hour after installation I'm happy with it. I'll update the review if it changes over time. ... show more

  • This Zigbee smart lock works well.
The media could not be loaded. Got this lock on Saturday Dec. 8th. 2018. 1st thing to remember that if you want a smart lock it HAS TO HAVE ZIGBEE, if you don't want buy an extra hub to control your lock with you Echo. We don't have a hub, we are using our Echo Plus as the hub. And right now alot of these smart locks do not have Zigbee. So your kinda limited on your choices. 2nd it is not very hard to install. Took us more than normal cause our door has a little hitch in it. 3rd code setting is easy. But have a master code in mind if using one already. You don't have to have or use a master code. And then your 4 to 8 digit entry code. Cause if you hesitate for those 5 seconds it won't take the code. But it will remember it. So it won't let you enter the same code again. You have to clear it out and start over again. Which we did and it took the code just fine. One long beep when code is accepted and 3 consecutive beeps if it is not. 4th go to your Alex app and settings and find the new device locks. Kwikset will be listed. Select the lock and it will tell you to press button A on the lock then hit search. Alexa will find the lock. Then your set to use your Echo Plus. If you are using your Echo to unlock the door using the verbal command will need a 4 digit code as well. So have one ready. And enable your whisper mode on Alexa. This helps if you have only 1 Alexa device in your house, so she can hear you better if you are too far away. There is a tiny light that flashes on the back of the lock. This indicates a few things. Yellow means door is locked. Yellow & red means door is locked and your are batteries are low. Green means door is open. Before putting the back cover on the lock, there are 4 little switches. #2 switch if pushed up to "on" enables the 30sec lock, comes in the off position. Which means if you enter your house and don't lock the door right away, the door will automatically lock after 30secs. And if your not by the door you can always ask Alexa to check to see if the door is locked or unlocked and she will tell you. The only downside is I wish this had a flip latch on the top cover where the batteries go. Cause when changing the batteries you have to unscrew the back cover everytime you change the batteries out. And please use the Allen wrench provided and not a Philips screwdriver. Or you will strip the screws. I read that a previous customer used a screwdriver and stripped the Allen screws. It pays to read ALL the instructions when installing any device. Hope this helps anyone wanting to buy this smart lock. ... show more

  • Great idea that falls short on practicality
What I expected to be a 20 minute job took 4 hours. Easy to assemble, great videos online for step by step. First hurdle was chiseling a wider gap for the bracket in the door jam. Second, the pack that goes on the inside part of the door kept "jamming." It was actually not in the correct position, requiring me to take it apart to line the locking mechanism correctly. Then the keypad wouldn't work, then it wouldn't sync with my Xfinity home security. After finding how to do a master reset, I was able to go through the process of adding it to my home security, set up a master code, and enter personalized pins for each family member. I was hoping I could monitor who was coming and going via the pin, but I am not sure I can. Also, I was hoping I could set a rule on Xfinity home security that when I set an alarm, the locks engage. That too does not appear to be possible. Day 1 with the lock up and working. I do like on my Xfinity Home Security app I can remote lock and unlock the door and see its status. I also like the pin unlock. Rekeying the lock took 20 seconds so it fits our old key. As a note, establishing a master code adds security as someone can't just add a number. But dont forget it! It looks good and feels solid. What I wish was possible is that when you insert the pin, the bottom door handle lock unlocked/locked as well. It would also be good if I could set a rule on Xfinity that when I set an alarm, the door auto locked. I was going to purchase this for all my doors, but given the current limitations, I am not sure it was worth the money and time. If I am missing something, please let me know!! My main goals were to track numbers, go keyless, set rules, and have both locks sync. ... show more
