  • Nice Bars. No Regrets.
Size: 720mm Style: riser (25.4mm)
I've been on a journey with a 2003 GT Palomar. I didn't care for how it rode, fit or shifted when it was given to me new in 2004. So after a few short rides it was put in shed. When it saw daylight for a ride in 2013, it was hit on the rear wheel by a car. The wheel was bent so badly that I was barely able to limp it home with the V-brakes released. Then it went back in the shed. In 2021, it saw daylight again as I was going to junk it. The cost of a wheel straightening, or new wheel wasn't justified on a 20 year old $230 bicycle. But, it had less than 100 miles on it, was still like new and seemed to be comparable with some new bikes in the $500 and up range. So I cleaned it up and figured I'd try to sell it. I watched videos, learned how to straighten the wheel and dial in the indexed shifting. Then I gave the old GT a full tear down and service. On a test ride, it was smoother than anything I'd ever ridden and I figured no one would give me what I felt it was worth now. It also had a Chrome Moly Steel frame that I prefer to the ride of the newer aluminum frames. So, I decided to try to make it fit me better instead of selling it. A new seat post and Bucklos 60mm riser bars were the first upgrades to improve the fit. That lead to other upgrades. In the end, the only original components I didn't change were the frame, seat, rear derailleur and V-brakes. Reviews have been written for everything I've replaced using Amazon and some parts available on Amazon that I purchased from other vendors because the specific size I was after wasn't available. . The bicycle came together and went from a miserable ride to something I could comfortably take out for 10-30 mile rides on back roads and trails. However, there was one final issue that I'd been battling since getting the bike to fit. Sometimes it would get "twitchy" with the steering suddenly feeling too responsive. Even though the Bucklos risers had worked wonders, I wanted to try a wider handlebar to see if that would resolve the bike being "twitchy". But as the bike handlebars are 25.4mm, there is not much available due to new bicycle standards. I also was happy with the stem and didn't want to go through swapping that out. When I found these, I debated whether or not to purchase them. They didn't seem to have the rise my other Bucklos bars had and I was skeptical of how much of a difference going from 620mm to 720mm in width would make. I finally decided to go for it and made the purchase and these bars were the final piece of the puzzle for the GT. After installing the bars, I noticed a difference as I pedaled the bike out of the driveway. I then took a 12 mile or so ride, was completely comfortable and the bike was solid and stable. I couldn't believe how much of a difference 100mm in width made. I was also surprised to find that I did not need to adjust my bar height as my riding position hadn't changed that much despite the difference in rise and sweep between these and the 60 degree riser bars I removed. As other reviews have mentioned, I wouldn't recommend these bars for hard core mountain bike or down hill riders. These seem to be more for casual riders on cruisers or light/medium trails. To put the review in perspective, I'm a 6' 6", 55 year old casual rider and have had good results with both the Bucklos risers as well as these bars. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. The extra width of these bars just worked better for me than the slightly narrower risers. The hand grips are ODI that I modified from 130mm to around 80mm to accommodate my grip shifters and give me the widest hand position possible on the Bucklos 60mm risers. They have worked perfectly on these bars as well. I've got just over $500 into the resurrection of this bicycle and figure it's comparable to a new one in the $1,200-2000 range. While I don't have 29 inch wheels, an aluminum frame or disc brakes,, the bike fits perfectly and the gearing is right where I want it for both road and trail riding along with heavy duty wheels/spokes, better shifting derailleurs, chain, tires, tubes, cables, seat post, crankset, pedals, Rock Shox forks and brake pads. For me, it's a win/win. While I probably would have been happier initially with a new bike, because it was new, I would have had to go through it to make it ride and perform like this one... which would have meant spending more money and upgrading parts. After resurrecting this one, I know this bike inside and out. It is comfortable and bullet proof for anything I will ever do with it...unless I get hit by another car. However, before you dive in like I did, make sure resurrecting or upgrading your "lower end" or older bicycle would be a win/win for you. Also, make sure you adjust the position of your bars and controls when you make the swap. Carry some allen wrenches with you on a ride so you can adjust the controls while you ride to test the feel. A rotation forward or back of 1/4" or so can make a huge difference. ... show more

  • VERY light weight
Size: 720mm Style: riser (25.4mm)
Replaced my original handlebars with these and wow. They are more expensive than I would have liked, BUT worth every penny once you get them on. The only thing I will monitor is how durable the carbon is with being scratch resistant.

  • Surprised by the Quality
Size: 660mm Style: riser (31.8mm)
Replaced my wife's 35mm aluminum bars on her Julianna with these. Surprised by how light they are and improved comfort for XC riding. If you are not Joe Enduro and looking for a nice upgrade to carbon bars, I wouldn't hesitate to put these on. They will absorb more vibration and the quality seems to be great. Value is great for the $$$ ... show more

  • Nicely made.
Size: 660mm Style: riser (25.4mm)
I ordered this for my mom's Jetson Journey ebike that came with a cruiser-style handlebar she didn't like very much. I ordered the 25.4mm, 660mm length handlebar, which has a 20mm rise and a 15-degree upsweep. The handlebar was a perfect fit and mom says she has better control over the bike now. 5 stars. ... show more

These handlebars are great. I was shocked at how lightweight but sturdy they are. I can already feel the change in stability. Excellent purchase.
