  • Absolutely flawless
Color: Tony Pro Size: US Women´s: 09 / US Men´s: 7,5
The media could not be loaded. I’m not a pro skater by any stretch, but I have been rollin’ for awhile. I have three other pairs from other brands, and while Chaya is still a respectable 2nd, BTFL has totally changed my skate game. I was in love by the time I’d laced up my first boot. 1) Comfort: if I’m not comfy on my skates, I’m screwed. These beauties are very pliable, and will eventually mold to my feet. They have padding where I tend to put the most pressure - until now I’ve been wearing my own ankle protectors, but no need with BTFL. 2) Wheels: these were the tipping point for me ~ I’m going from street/derby style to artistic, and these are exactly what I needed to add some grace to my moves. They’re the perfect width I need for dance, and the rounded edges make transitions so much more intuitive. 3: Heels: I don’t wear skates with heels. I’ve always had derby skates (they usually look like a skate shoe) - I think I thought they were more low key (plus I have fallen arches - heels HURT.) I take it all back. The little adjustment in balance helping all my turns and practice drills look 10x better. This whole brand is great at maintaining a retro feel with understated features that are essential to a quality skate. I have flat feet so I wear insoles, but I’m totally flabbergasted how much these heels in particular have helped my posture. 4) Style: I’ve skated Chaya, Moxi, Bont, and Riddell, and these just win over everything I’ve worn so far. I didn’t realize how beautiful they were until I was already wearing them, but these are genuinely lovely skates. I’m so excited at the adjustable toe stop and the extra ankle support, and the laces are long enough to wrap around through the back loop if I want more stability. BTFL, 12/10. I can’t say enough. Whoever you are, if you’ve looked at these skates more than once, please trust me when I tell you these are IMBECCABLE. ... show more

  • Very smooth ride, and comes with the tool you need
These are beautiful, quality skates. They have a very smooth ride. They are lovely to look at and eye-catching, and seem well-designed. I trust German engineering, they generally have very high standards for safety and functionality. I don't know if this matters to anyone but the wheels feel thick and bouncy and rubbery to the touch which felt safe to me. The sizing didn't seem right for me though. Their website says to size up if you're in between sizes, but when you read blogs on the subject everyone says that roller skates should have your toes hitting right at the top of the shoe without space so that they act as an extension of your foot. These felt slightly too roomy on me, even with thick socks, and I think it did affect me feeling safe and secure. Since I am actually much closer to the size down, and given that they are a nice leather, I would think it more likely that the leather would stretch a little, so I'm returning them and getting the smaller pair. Heads up though, this is not an easy UPS store barcode return for U.S. customers, you do have to print a shipping label for it. If you don't have a printer, UPS will charge you $3 to print a label even though it's a "free return" through Amazon. Also to note, I must not have read the description carefully after looking at so many different products because I fell for the "Customers who bought these skates also bought this handy tool" Amazon up-sell, but it turns out, the only tool that you need to adjust the wheels and stopper is included in the box with these skates! ... show more

  • Great beginner skates!
Color: Scarlett Pro Size: US Women´s: 10 / US Men´s: 8,5
I loved skating as a kid. I'm 49 now and decided "why not?" I did a bunch of research to figure out what kind of skate would be best for me. I live in one of those ultimate "master planned" communities in suburban Phoenix with walking paths around 2 huge manmade lakes. Since it seemed like outdoor skating would be my thing, I started looking into boardwalk skates, but I wasn't really thrilled with the idea of dropping $200-$400 on Moxi, Suregrip, or Jackson skates. I also didn't want to have to buy different wheels and cushions and change them out to get what I wanted. Too expensive, plus, I'm an amateur. I looked into Chayla and BTFL when I came across them during my research. They were still more than I wanted to pay but much more reasonable. I added them to my cart and kept on eye on them for a couple of months. You may ask why a couple of months? Summer in Phoenix, that's why! Since I most likely wouldn't start using them until it cooled off I figured I had time to watch for deals. Sure enough, one day a pair of size 10 BTFL appeared as "Like New" for $88! I immediately ordered them. Having ordered "Like New" from Amazon before, I wasn't too concerned. What I've found is that the products are usually brand new and unused but the packaging is wrecked. Sure enough, they show up in pristine condition, but the box had a label ripped off of it (think taking the price tag off to give it as a gift). The skates are better than I expected. The boot is extremely soft and comfortable. My foot measures a hair smaller than 26cm, and size 10 fits great. The wheels are 80a, great for outdoor skating. What I like the most about the BTFL skates is that they had the widest wheels (61mm x 38mm) outside of Moxi Lollies. The wider the wheel, the more stable for old ladies! I've tried them a few times and they ride great. I can't wait for cooler weather. A local skate club does Saturday morning lessons at a local park. Looking forward to refreshing my skills! ... show more
