Truck and detachable trailer feature fifth wheel clutch, removable side gates, fold-down ramps held by chains to unhook, folding mirrors, opening doors, a folding support bar, a locking device and a tilting cab with viewable engine underneath. The included JCB Backhoe Loader has a fully-functional front loader and backhoe that moves up and down and swings side to side. It features stabilizer legs and a seat that spins around.

You have to know your kid and what your kid likes. My kid loves trucks with trailers, and he has good but not great fine motor skills. This toy has appealed to him more than some of the other expensive Bruder trucks have. It's a bit easier to work with than some of the other Bruder trucks. The side-arm garbage trucks require some very good fine motor skills to get the arm to go out, hook the can, and bring it all the way up and dump it. My kid got a bit frustrated with it. This truck, though, is simple enough that he can easily get the loading ramps up and down, can easily get the backhoe on and off, can get the cab hood up and down, etc. And, of course, once the backhoe is off all sorts of other things can go on the trailer. Lots of fun. As Bruder trucks go there's a lot to do with this one, and the cab doors open and close. For my kid that was very important. On our other Bruders the cab doors don't open, and if the kid wants to put a driver in there--well, you need to have doors that open. These Bruder toys are VERY well made and very precise, and seem to do best with kids who like careful, thoughtful, gentle play. If your kid likes to smash stuff, he's going to turn this into an $84 pile of plastic parts pretty quickly. These are NOT as sturdy as the Tonka trucks of old. So I had been looking at Bruder toys for a while to get for my son. I was certainly hesitant, since they are on the pricey side. But this past Christmas one of the toys my son saw under the tree was this truck. First off, this thing is BIG. Which is nice, but when it is not being played with it takes up a good deal of floor space. This thing is cool! From a distance it looks super detailed, but from up close the details are rather crude. There is nothing wrong with that. It prevents easily breakable parts. And that is probably the best thing about this toy. It is meant to be played with. Things pop off or move instead of snapping. Then it is easily put back together. Everything works like the real thing, and the controls on the back-hoe seem to not even be there because of how well it is designed. We have only had this for a few months now, and I can't wait to see my son playing with this in the dirt and sand. I am very impressed, and will continue to buy and recommend Bruder products. ... show more

This pricey "toy" was purchased for a 3 year olds birthday party. Hid it under the other packages, because I had a feeling that the construction minded little guy would be "done" once he saw it. Needless to say, he loved it and fell asleep next to it on the garage floor! It seems to be a durable plastic, which IMO is better for toddlers than the heavy metal ones. The details are accurate and appear to scale! (Important to those operators who "know"). I purchased a 2nd one for his brother turning 2 soon in order to avoid battles. A soon to be 3 year old cousin practically cried because now he wants one for his birthday. I bought this for my little buddy across the street who is practically my nephew. I love him to death. He absolutely loves this truck. It is so well made and detailed he can't get enough. The little guy is 3 and extremely into trucks. This is by far his favorite and most intricate toy. His mom says he hasn't played with anything else. His parents bought him the Bruder garbage truck last year for his birthday and he loves it too, so I thought I'd get him this one and what a wonderful decision. He couldn't be happier. These products by Bruder are made absolutely terrific. A little expensive, but so well made it is totally worth it. My kids are in college and I so miss playing with the little ones. Excellent quality and attention to detail. The trailer was missing one of the loading ramps. Amazon is shipping a new one to me in a few days. I will update this review if they don't follow through.     • Very Detailed, Expensive, Not Durable
My 4-yr old son loves this toy. What's not to love? It's extremely detailed and looks as real as you can get in a toy. It has many functional parts, the tires are soft, it's intuitive and easy to play with, and it's BIG. Unfortunately, within five minutes of opening the box, our 3-yr old daughter broke a small part off the toy. For the high price, I'd expect the toy to be a bit more durable. This thing could easily be destroyed if you accidentally kicked or stepped on it. Perhaps durability and detail don't come in the same package. If you have a careful/responsible child, this toy will provide years of enjoyment. Otherwise, look to cheaper alternatives that are surely more durable than this product. ... show more
