  • Night and day difference
Size: C17 Style: Carved
Been riding my new mtn bike through the pandemic to now on the stock seat. Riding two days in a row was torture in the first 10 minutes of the second ride and only got a little better for the ride. Painful for days following really. I couldn’t take it anymore and ordered this seat after some research looking for best saddle that can handle some abuse. The Brooks cambium c17 carved is what i settled on. Installs easily. I ride my seat level to ground. My next ride was SO MUCH BETTER. The seat conforms to your sit bones and is forgiving in the bumps. When i finished my ride I got off and didn’t feel at all sore then or the days following. Just a night and day difference really. Buying this seat for my road bike now. Can’t believe I waited this long ( like 40 yrs) to give in and upgrade my bike seats. Don’t wait. Your bits and pieces will be forever grateful. ... show more

  • First Impression: It's as good as it gets for longer rides.
Size: C19 Style: Carved
Although it may seem that an unpadded saddle would be less comfortable, that is not the case with this saddle. My first impression after an urban ride of 30 minutes and a couple at 45 minutes, it is the most comfortable saddle for the longer rides that I've tried. And I've tried many saddles. (However, for short commuter rides of about 15 minutes or less, the moderately wide padded saddles are more comfortable.) For context, 45 degree riding position on a mountain bike hardtail with a suspension seat post. ... show more

  • This saddle is a keeper!
Size: C17 Style: Carved
I am 6’3” 220ish lbs and for years it was a struggle to find that perfect saddle or gel pad seat cover. I have tried all with no luck. Came across these and ordered c17 and c19, both -curved. Tried them, rode my bike with each. C17 curved is the one. I was shocked, especially after riding it for few days, at how comfortable it was. Riding your bike won’t be “pain in the butt” anymore with this saddle. ... show more

  • Not for everybody
Size: C17 Style: Carved
A Brooks saddle that you don't have to fiddle with- what a great idea. Lighter, no need for heavy adjustment hardware, Looks great rain or shine, just keeps going. Now that's for me. Well, maybe not. Most of my rides are 3 hour plus and so far this saddle gets pretty hard after the 2 hour mark. Right our of the box you can see that this is a well made saddle- that is "plastic hard"! Take your shoe off and gently work the saddle a bit with the heal of your foot (on the rug) to help it soften up a bit where your sit bones go. Mount the saddle, find the sweet spot, and off you go! Still, I doubt that this material will ever be as comfortable as a well broken in leather seat Brooks. May not be for everybody. ... show more

  • Best Saddle Hands Down
Size: C19 Style: Carved
Out of the box and onto my Surly ECR, this saddle (C19 Carved) was amazingly comfortable on a mixed 26 mile ride (15 gravel, 11 tarmac). I’ll be leaving the chamois home on the next ride because I don’t think I’ll need it at all. This is my 4th Brooks saddle and it’s my favorite.

  • Great, very comfortable saddle, be wary of sizing.
Size: C17 Style: Carved
The TL;DR Pros & Cons: These are my experiences. Everyone's body is different, so saddles will fit people differently. In general this saddle is highly rated by a lot of customers, so it is likely a good fit for the wide variety of riders, but if you have some a unique physical inclination, it may not be for you. Pros: - Very comfortable, despite how thin & unpadded it looks - Cut out relieved the genital numbness and overall discomfort issues I was having while riding my road bike. - Price was just right. Paid about $100 at the time. I know that might be expensive for some people, as it's more than what they paid for their bikes. It's all relative, and to me the comfort is worth it. - Weatherproofing really works! - I am a big fan of the look (and lack of maintenance) on my bike compared to Brooks' traditional leather saddles. Now my only issue is that my bike looks faster than I actually am. Oh well. Cons: - Sizing was kind of tough to determine, and I ultimately ended up buying the wrong size. - The saddle is on the heavier side, so if you're someone that's concerned about component weights, this saddle might not be for you. - The vulcanized surface of the seat is not very slick. Hard to describe, but it's not sticky or tacky in the sense where it will leave a residue if you touch it, but it will kind of catch at your clothing a little bit. As a male rider, I was experiencing some issues with numbness and discomfort with the boys downstairs, even on relatively short (12mi.) rides. After some research, I found that a saddle with a cutout was likely what would help relieve my issues. I'd read a lot about the supreme comfort of Brooks' leather saddles, but frankly didn't care for the leather look on my road bike, as well as the maintenance that goes with them. Then I found Brooks' Cambium line. The saddle looks very thin with minimal padding, which would lead you to believe that it won't be comfortable, but contrary to popular belief, my online research told me that thinner saddles with less padding are actually more comfortable in the long run than extremely padded saddles. Still do not completely understand how that makes sense, but it seems to be true in this case. Not only was it comfortable, but also the cut-out in the saddle resolved the numbness issues I was having. You're welcome, my future children. I did it for you. Sizing was a question that I had, and it ended up being kind of hard to determine which model I needed between C15, C17, or C19. Somehow, I was lead to believe that the C17 was the right size for me and my riding (road bike riding, with a bike frame that puts me in a less relaxed, more aggressive position). I am an average build (5'10 x 180lbs), and the saddle was actually a little too wide. My sit bones started to feel a little sore on longer rides. If I could do it again, I'd go narrower with the C15 (and I actually have bought a C15 carved because I like the saddle so much). The C17, as I found out later, was built more for women, since women have wider sit bones then men, as well as people who have bikes that put them in a more relaxed and upright position (i.e. not me.). Other than that, the saddle is everything that has been advertised, and I don't see myself looking for a different saddle anytime soon. ... show more

  • Once you try one of these in the right size you will never be happy with another saddle.
Size: C17 Style: Carved
I've bought 3 of these. I still have the first one but it doesn't have a bike yet. It accumulated about 14k miles. It serviced one road bike and three MTB's. I only replaced it because it looked a little faded and had a few scars from spills on the mountain bikes. It was still comfortable as ever. I tried to upload a picture but amazon and apple don't always get along. The second seat was sold with the bike it was on. I'm often asked by other mountain bikers why I have this seat on my bike. Simple answer is once you try one of these in the right size you will never be happy with another saddle. ... show more

  • More comfortable than gel
Size: C17 Style: Standard
I have the B-17 leather saddle for my bike and I wanted to get something that wouldn't need to be babied as much for my mountain bike. I saw good reviews on this saddle and have had good luck with the leather version so I bought it. I have to say the same thing as my other saddle. This IS more comfortable than the old gel saddle I had. I still feel the need to get off my bum after riding for a few miles but the difference is that this saddle feels really good again once I get back on after a few minutes. The gel saddle would just start to hurt again instantly. I do think the price is a little high but all in all, this seems to be a good one. ... show more
