Honestly the main reason I bought Broan is that it is not disposable, I can get parts. When shopping for a hood most brands are from offshore and assuming the manufacturer actually honors the warranty there are no parts available to repair the unit after that. The companies I talked to actually told me that their warranty is a replacement unit because there are no parts. After buying this insert I called Broan customer service and talked with a person that was very nice and helped me to purchase an accessory for this unit. I would highly recommend making sure you can get parts and repair a unit before going to all the trouble and expense to custom fit whatever you buy. ... show more

    • Replaced an older model with relative ease
Size: 21-Inch Style: 300 CFM
I found this replacement for an old Nu-Tone exhaust insert. The old unit had a smaller cut-out in the cabinet, so I used a jig saw to cut a larger opening. That takes a little carpentry skill, but wasn't too hard. Next, the new unit has little wings that allow you to push the blower assembly up through the bottom of the cabinet and "snap" in place. Then you add four screws to finalize the installation. Next came the re-ducting of the exhaust. This was the most difficult part, as the old duct was not the same size as the blower exhaust port. I used tin snips to cut relief slits around the perimeter of the duct, then bent things until the parts mated together. You will need a roll of aluminum tape to seal everything. The new unit has great LED lights and the blower is very efficient. The low speed is rather quiet but the high speed makes a good bit of sound. We are very pleased with the overall look and use of this range hood insert. ... show more

The low speed fan on this is very low, I don't think it does anything at all. The high speed is great, real good suction. A little louder than a standard fan but that doesn't bother me, I need the smell of cooking out of the house.

My electrician had this installed as a replacement for an outdated model and it was an excellent fit! Very easily installed and fastened nicely to the existing vent duct. While it only has two lights, it does a an excellent job lighting the entire cooking area. The fan on high is a bit loud, but the suction power on low does a great job eliminating odors. The media could not be loaded. This is to upgrade our cooktop from a JennAir downdraft. Broan did a nice job of making this hood vent easy to install. They have “hooks” on the sides that allow you to install it and let it stay in place while you install the screws. I removed the fan since I will be connecting it to a ductwork with a fan located remotely. The blocks of wood that are clamped in the pics are being glued to allow me to attach the hood with the screws Broan provided. Hardest part was measuring the cabinet and cutting the hole squarely. The unit is light so pretty much any cabinet can support it. Well done Broan! Coupled this with a 6” inline fan that I mounted in the crawl space. What you are hearing in the video is 400 CFM flowing through the hood. PS. That’s a lot of air! ... show more

I bought this to replace a Braun 3 speed with a squeaky motor that was $400 to replace. For the price of this, it was an easy replacement. My only problem with it is the fan is either super low or super high. Wish there was a middle toggle. Low barely does anything, high is too loud.
