  • Don't use the supplied cap screws(2ea). OK to use rotor screws.
Color: V6 Cap
I re-used the original cap screws. They look more like wood screws than machine screws supplied with the cap. That may have just been my application, so compare the old screws with the new screws. Just rotate them slowly backwards(ccw) until they drop just a bit into the previously cut threads before turning clockwise. That way you won't be cutting new threads into old brittle plastic that may break. The cap itself looked much better than the one I removed with corroded aluminum terminals. Also the cap has the plug wire locations easy to read to avoid miswiring. My truck ran noticeably smoother, but I can't say that it was only due to the new cap as I had replaced the plugs and wires at the same time, but I am satisfied that the cap is a quality component. ... show more

  • Fit perfect, works great. HEAVY! Just as heavy as the famous name ones. I weighed on a Postal scale.
Color: V8 Cap
I liked everything about it, especially the price. Local NAPA store, wanted 84 dollars, just for the cap, no rotor. Someone called the next day and said that I could have it for 74 dollars. I would have spent a small fortune, just on the sales tax! This cap made the big Suburban idle like a dream. So odd, it seemed like it shifted, noticeably crisper, on 25 and 35 mile an hour streets. My 1998 Vortek engine, eats ignition rotors. I went ahead and replaced the cap, while I was working on it. Please note. Previous owner had a wood screw at the front of distributor cap, and a torx machine screw, at the rear. I could not see the rear screw. I used a silicon ear plug, to make an impression of that rear screw. It was a small, 6 sided allen wrench. But that did not work. A torx driver worked perfectly. This cap comes with machine screws, but of course I used that same wood screw where it had been needed. This cap turned a rough idle, into a perfectly smooth idle. 190K miles on that 1998 wagon. Always breezes thru smog checks. The Bravex rotor, also had a brass conductor. ... show more

  • DON'T USE THE SUPPLIED TORX SCREWS
Color: V8 Cap
As a few others mentioned the scores are weak and break easily and they seem to be slightly larger in diameter than the original screw because they don't go in as easily. Speant the whole day working on this thing and trying to take it out with a vice grip only to have it snap a second time so I did a little more research and found out how to take the whole distributor out which isn't very hard but you can seriously mess things up if you don't put it back in correctly. After drilling it out and damaging the distributor I was going to go to buy some jb weld and fix it but decided to just buy a whole new one which is anywhere from $35-150 "depends on where you buy it" and they all come with a cap and rotor too. I personally decided to get a new one because I'd rather take my losses now and I have to get a new "distributor shaft seal" because the old one fell apart and the jb weld to fix it which will cost another $12 and I'm not sure how much I trust this cap and rotor so here I cutting my losses. I didn't realize how important it is to put the distributor back in correctly so I didn't mark it and what should have been an afternoon job has turned into weeks of finding the right app to use to set the CAM Retard and just my luck Dash Command wasn't working last week so I bought Car Gauge Pro only to find out this afternoon that it doesn't work on pre 1999 Chevy 5.7l Vortec vehicles but as luck would have it Dash Command is back in the Play Store and I was able to see that I'm off by 26° which is a whole tooth on the distributor so I need to take it off again and repeat the process for the 5th time. I also needed to buy Bafx OBD2 Bluetooth scanner so n I w this job is costing me an additional $40 in app purchases and a OBD2 scanner which I was planning on buying anyway but needed to get it now. The worst part is I have all my money invested into this Suburban and need to get it running properly before I sell my other vehicle but thanks to a broken screw and my lack of knowledge I'm set back financially because of this stupid distributor cap and rotors supplied screws. STOP HERE REST IS JUST VENTING... The worst part of this whole process is I just wanted to change my spark plugs but the wires broke then the old "brittle" distributor cap broke too once I started pulling the wires off so I ordered this and some wires waited a couple of days "then a few more for the weather" and now I gotta wait for then whole distributor assembly to come in the mail in a few days and again the weather 😤. Be careful for what you ask for because I bought this 1997 Suburban K1500 to learn how to work on vehicles better and I'm definitely getting quite the crash course and busted knuckles. ... show more
