  • Great support!
Size: 3XL 9"
I have another abdominal hernia and my old binder wore out. This one is the perfect replacement. It's very sturdy and strong and does the job perfectly. Fits well too.

  • It's what you need
Size: 2XL 12"
Due to multiple surgeries and muscle separations I have a hernia from sternum to groin. My abdomen has the same profile as a near full term pregnant woman. I am not a large guy. 5'8'', 170#s but I have this protruding belly. In order to avoid serious health complications the doctor prescribed a full length "ladies style" lace up corset to be worn always, not only to contain my insides but to protect them. To compromise I decided to try an "abdominal binder". This binder is the 5th one I tried. None of the first four worked for me. They were not broad enough to prevent riding up or down whether under or over clothes. They pinched, they were either too stiff or the velcro was not up to the job or caused me to overheat or couldn't breath or it couldn't be positioned so it wouldn't rub a raw spot. Some were just uncomfortable. This abdominal binder is exactly what I needed to keep me together and somewhat protected. The width keeps it from riding up or down. The velcro is abundant and strong and won't lose its grip under a load. I have worn the binder literally all day and half the night every day since it arrived on September 25. Once I have it on I seldom notice it. It is very comfortable. The velcro is beyond adequate. My only complaint is that under exertion it can get a little warm and restrict breathing somewhat but those issues are mostly controllable. I don't think the binder relieved any of my chronic back pain from injuries and surgeries but I didn't buy the binder for pain relief. The price is very reasonable. As always, the shipping was fast. Close to a year now and still wearing and liking this binder. I've worn mine every day for 11 months. It shows no signs of wear or losing its elasticity. For laundry I make sure the velcro is in full contact and wash it alone on "delicate, hand wash" cycle and tumble on air dry. Comes out like new. ... show more

  • Recommended, by an actual large person
Size: 4XL 12"
More like 3½ stars, but I will give them 4 for having the foresight to make this large enough for my grossly obese body.... This is being used for two things: 1) Multiple hernias that were recently obtained 2) Projected post bariatric surgery The brace arrived on time and packaged well. Upon initial inspection it appeared that this wouldn't fit. After unfurling the unit there was no doubts about it fitting all but the largest of people (waist sized ~68", depends on the day, height 6'1" and as round as am tall, yeah I know). The material is elastic, but thick and somewhat firm. It is probably not a good idea to machine wash unless there is a very gentle setting. Use detergents that do not react with your body chemistry as this will most likely be wrapped into folds in the body that are sensitive! After weeks of initial use: Needs some kind of ribbing for added support and to prevent folding after prolonged use. Does not get too hot as the material breathes really well. The material has not caused irritation except for where the Velcro touches the skin. The stretching of the fabric will actually begin sagging if not given a break. The maximum worn to date is about 20 hours. Did not notice any abnormal sweating or skin reactions after use. This is a good product, and more will be purchased for obvious hygiene purposes. Below is some advice for application. *Note: Your doctor may, and probably will, give different advice. But, then again, large people know and understand large people better than them tictacs. Kidding tictacs, kidding. ----- ____________________________________________________ The best method for application is to unroll the brace & lay it out on a bed (making certain the Velcro is facing down, there is only one side with Velcro) where your bottom will be about to the first one-third from the bottom of brace (adjust if needed by standing back up first), lay gently down with body in the middle of the brace, take side that does not have Velcro and wrap firmly/comfortably around body, ensure that the wrap does not fold up anywhere, tuck the end without the Velcro behind body, then pull the Velcro side around body until it is firmly wrapped, secure Velcro. ***The last step can be difficult as the Velcro end has a tendency to fold over and stick to itself. It's recommended to have assistance if not too flexible.*** ... show more

  • Takes 4 hands to put this on!
Size: 2XL 12"
I really had high hopes. Yes, I googled these 'support devices' and read up as much as I could. I also read plenty of reviews on this product and others similar to it. I really had high hopes that this would help with old age lady belly sag. I tried the 9 inch version that I could buy locally, which was a laugh. So, I bought this 12 inch version. What an ordeal. I tried several times to get it setting just right so I could pull the velcro binding over and fasten it. It catches on everything and just rips the material apart. I had to have my husband help me fasten it, and he's like a buffalo in a china shop just throwing me and the binder around trying to get things to line up and attach. Once we finally got everything to line up and fasten, it felt pretty darn good, holding everything in, and I could still breathe and bend over. Going to the bathroom is impossible with this on. You have to drag your underwear out from under it (remember, old lady=granny panties) to use the loo, then you have to try to stuff the panties back under it and reach through it to drag them back up into place without getting a wedgie. After a couple hours though, the binder is rolling up over my hips, or rolling down and digging into my waistline and tearing my skin. I tried again the next 3 days, with Mr. Buffalo's help, and each day it was worse. This thing does not have any type of vertical support to keep it from rolling on your body and it continues to roll no matter how tight or loose you apply it. Plus the fact that is has bionic velcro that rips apart the material so badly when prying it off that you cannot attach it in the same place twice. The surface now looks like a fleece blanket, all fuzzy and stringey. If it was maybe another 3-4 inches taller, it might get above or below some of the 'extra padding' and not be so apt to roll on the torso. This was not a good use of my money and I will not be purchasing again. ... show more
