Description

The Bosch GPL100-30G features a three-point, self-leveling laser with ±1/8 In. accuracy at 30 Ft. for up/down plumb, align and level applications. This unit features green-beam technology, which is up to 4X brighter than standard red beams. It also has the Bosch-exclusive VisiMax™ technology, which delivers maximum beam brightness in most jobsite conditions. The unit includes point projection to the front, so it can be used in a variety of positions for flexibility on the job. It is faster than a standard manual plumb bob. The unit includes several durability features, such as the Smart Pendulum System to lock the laser when switched off, 360 degree rotation, a hard carrying case and full rubber overmold housing. The integrated multipurpose laser mount features strong magnets and allows the user to mount the laser virtually anywhere. Laser Class II, <1 mW.

I originally had the Bosch GPL3 laser for many years. I actually bought a refurbished version which worked well for me for many years. Not without its issues though, otherwise I wouldn't be replacing it with this new one. But I found it good enough to decide buying another laser plumb bob from Bosch again. Part of the GPL3's usefulness was that it was only a dot laser and very light in weight. It also contained magnets on the bottom with a channel groove so that it can fit on a pipe or conduit. I certainly made use of this when I had to hang rods from a ceiling since I could easily put the laser on top of the pipe which would hold because of the conduit channel on the bottom and the magnets would keep it in place while I mark the ceiling. This newer version neither has a pipe groove channel nor magnets on the bottom. So i can no longer place it on top of a pipe like the previous version. This is shame because i am losing its previous functionality. Another thing to note is that this model uses 2 double A batteries. Or 2 AA batteries. The previous version used 3 batteries. I dont know its usage time but I'd imagine that less batteries means less usable time between changing batteries. Or perhaps a green dot laser uses less wattage and still has the same amount of use time compared to the GPL3 which was a red dot laser. I guess I'll figure that out over time since I still yet have good use of this at the worksite and will actually write another review when that happens. For now I just wanted to point out some of its differences from the previous version. The loss of the pipe groove channel and magnets on the bottom is certainly a let down. I'll have to improvise by gluing some neodymium magnets on the bottom in the form of a pipe channel groove. Which I have already done and seems to work nicely so far. The reason I previously mention that it was only a dot laser and light in weight was specifically for putting it on a pipe to mark it towards the ceiling to hang a rod to support it. Those other combo lasers are usually too heavy and bulky for doing this. And they dont even have magnets on the bottom. But then neither does this new one. The green laser seems rather bright and nice. I just hope its doesn't dim over time as some green lasers seem to have that fault. Again, I'll do a follow up and do a proper review in the future. ... show more
