  • Tight Dados!
Love this jig. Easy to set up, just like the saw plate. Easy to align with the notches. Makes tight dados. I just need a little practice to make clean cuts without burrs at the sides. Sadly though, I raised the router prematurely at the end of a cut the cut while it was still spinning down, the bit grazing the bushing hole causing some minor damage. I was very much disheartened! But the jig is still functional. I'll be more careful next time. ... show more

This is the first review I’ve done BEFORE using a product. I’ve read many of the negative reviews about this product and was confused about its cause. It seems that there are two main reasons for the negative reviews. (1) The hole in the baseplate for most routers is too large for the guide bushing; and (2) The router simply sits on top of the jig and the router, if removed from the jig while still running, can rip into the hole in the jig. I can offer a remedy for each. (1) Once I had read in one of the reviews that the size of the hole in the jig is 1-3/16 inches, I immediately knew that the router’s original baseplate needed to be replaced with a universal router baseplate with a 1-3/16 hole. This size of the hole is actually the standard size for most guide bushings; and therefore requires this replacement for most routers. Note: I’m not sure why Bora states in its product description that their jig doesn’t fit palm (aka trim) routers. But initially, as I have not used it yet, it doesn’t make sense to me. If the hole in the baseplate of the jig fits a 1-3/16 guide bushing, what difference does it make what type of router it is, given the router baseplate fits onto the jig baseplate itself. The router bit is centered within the hole regardless. I purchased the POWERTEC 71381 Universal Router Base Plate for Trim Routers and I’m not expecting an issue. However if I do, there are many universal baseplates that fit midsuze routers. (2) I agree that the jig has a design flaw in that the jig simply sits on top of the jig and can ruin the jig baseplate if removed while the router is still running or it slips during operation. I plan on permanently attaching the universal baseplate to the jig baseplate to avoid this situation. - Insert the guide bushing into the hole of the jig baseplate; - Turn the jig baseplate upside down and center the universal baseplate onto the jig baseplate; - Rotate the universal baseplate to match the screw holes of the router while avoiding the jig’ss ribs; - Mark and drill the holes; and - Install the jig baseplate and universal baseplate onto the router. By the way, the reason I’d prefer to use my trim router is because it’s cordless; and therefore, no hassles with the power cord. ... show more

  • Perfect dado groove for Dewalt Router
Works perfect. Straight stable cut. Easy and simple. Couldn’t ask for a more straight forward solution :)

  • Nice feature
Didn't realize it has settings for different bit sizes and such easy sizing for whatever thickness needed for dado without a single measurement. Just use actual wood to set dado width. Excellent, quick.

  • Great concept ruined by cheap delivery
One of the most frustrating things about wood working are gimmick products that absolutely could work great but fail due to poor design and/or implementation. By all rights the Bora Woodworking Router Guide should be a great addition to your shop. Unfortunately the final product is flawed beyond redemption. While there is a brushing included, there is no way to tie the router to the jig. This isn't a problem while everything is fully supported, but once you need to run off the edge the jig flexes so much that it will get destroyed. I actually watched several demo videos that included warnings about this flaw. The general suggestion being that you don't move the router until it's stopped spinning. Well... I tried that and found that the build quality was so flimsy that the weight of the router itself was well more than enough to cause the jig to flex and once that happened the slowing bit grabbed the template and ate it. The fact of the matter is that this product could have been built much more solid and still sold at a comparable price. I should have sent it back as soon as I noticed how cheap/rigid the plastic it was built with. This product is a poorly thought-out addition to make the Bora NGX seem more versatile than it actually is. ... show more

  • Broke after 2nd use
Great product but also very fragile. The plastic cracked after only 3 uses

  • Cost effective
This jig worked great after I modified it, I drilled the jig to mount the router like a bottom plate. Well worth the cost.

  • pretty dangerous
nice intent, but it’s pretty shaky and can easily jump off track if the router catches. can’t recommend this inexpensive solution.
