This was really fun and easy to put together. Of all my cookbooks, this one is my favorite. My only complaint it that the battery house is a little touchy and you have to fiddle with it get the batteries touching correctly.

I am a crafter and a maker and have always wanted to make a book nook, but starting from scratch was very daunting. I thought this kit would be a great middle ground. The kit overall is good quality. I like the attention to detail and how you have the opportunity to craft some of the cute details of the Bookshop. The instructions are simple but pretty straightforward. I have found them easy enough to follow, and they do a good job guiding you to build the model. You do have to pay attention to detail and the direction that you place a piece. Otherwise, you may have to go back several steps to set a piece the correct way and then proceed. This model is made of primarily chipboard, thin particle board, and paper. My biggest complaint is not all the pieces fit together perfectly making them snug, like puzzle pieces. Some pieces are too loose, making it difficult to put together or leave unsightly gaps. The biggest pain in the neck was crafting the outdoor light . Not only did the shade of the lamp not look good being made of the out of paper, the chipboard of the structural part broke easily. I was able to "fix" it but it was a bit frustrating. Some of the pieces are pretty fragile, and I've had a couple of pieces tear or breaks, making it difficult to progress with the model. That being said before you start this model, I suggest you have an exacto knife, a glue pen and super glue handy. The kit comes with pretty much everything else you need to complete it. While you have to be super careful handling the thinner pieces, the overall structure seems pretty sturdy and will be super cute on my bookshelf when it's completed. Just expect to work on this model in sections and bring your patience. It could be done in an afternoon, but I wouldn't recommend it. I needed several breaks to let glue dry or to reset my patients and expectations. I think this kit would be appropriate for teens and tweens who enjoy crafting and adults. I do not believe you need to have any crafting experience in order to build this model. Update: I have my PHD (projects half done) in crafts and projects, but this model was simple and fun enough that I actually completed it. It was a bit frustrating at the beginning but by the end of the build it was relaxing and enjoyable. The lights worked and really add charm to the final project. To turn the lights on you simply tap a spot on the top model and the lights turn on and stay on until you tap the spot again. I loved this model so much I'm going to give my BFF a kit as a gift for her birthday. Happy crafting! ... show more

This is a great little book nook. I think that it is so incredibly cute. It does have instructions with it that break down all of the different ways that the pieces go together. It might be a little difficult for younger builders without some assistance but that doesn't mean that it is not something that younger people couldn't do. I love the way this nook kit looks but boy were some of the fittings really tight. I broke a few of the smaller pieces. I could glue them all back together but once they were broken they were harder to fit into the tight clearances of the holes without breaking again. Even with that said. I am very happy with my book nook. I recommend having some wood glue and superglue. It will make your job easier. ... show more

I have put together numerous nook books and this by far is the most poorly made one that I have come across. Pieces cannot be made out of cardboard, they simply snap. Also, providing no adhesive paper to make mini books with glue is virtually impossible. The holes and notches were cut too big so to hold everything in place it had to be glued.
